This game... sheesh. What a game. Bosses are difficult, not unbeatable (granted there are some OHKOs) and the music was way better than it should have been. I would have expected a lot worse of a soundtrack but the boss themes go hard as hell. You don't have to press a button to shoot, just aim with the mouse. Tthere are a ton of abilities and passives AND you can equip a lot at once to the point where you can really feel like an endgame character before you've reached the end, which is awesome. Oh, boy, how could I forget that this is a boss rush? The boss rush gameplay is arguably the most unique thing about the game. Each level you're sent straight to a big bad instead of annoying minions that just waste hours of gameplay, and because of that, the length of the game is actually very dependent on your skill. One final thing to mention- the graphics are really simple and yet look amazing. Overall, this ticks every box, and I definitely recommend it.

About This Game
Journey throughout the solar system in a story-driven setting to eliminate 14 bosses, each with its own complex mechanics that will regularly demand a change of play style, strategy, and customization.

Evolve your spacecraft and gameplay from a vast arsenal of over 50 abilities and three pilots, each with their own unique solutions to deal with the threats of the Solar system.

- Play as the Aggressor, Valkyrie, or Architect through a threatened system and bring an end to the solar destruction.
- Make your own ability build out of 50 abilities and hundreds of combinations which are designed to heavily alter your playstyle.
- Every boss is vastly different from one another, having different strengths and weaknesses, which will require you to adapt through trial and error.

Build example #1:
When playing as the Aggressor you can customize a melee-based build which involves getting very close and personal with the adversary. This class has a giant hammer attached on its front that can be rotated around the ship, making a devastating whirlwind. Coupled with other short-ranged abilities, it embraces a high risk high reward gameplay. Whirlwind your enemies until they are rubble!
Build example #2:
The Architect can have a rapid-fire playstyle by utilizing as many drones as possible. These drones are mini versions of the Architect and the more they can be generated, the more projectiles will be launched at your enemy. Strength in numbers is what this build is all about. It allows YOU to be the bullet hell.

Solbane is, as advertised, a boss rush shmup featuring 14 stages each with their own unique boss, and 3 customizable ships to take on the campaign with. It's not really much of an RPG, since there's no grinding or real variables as to how strong you are at any given time, except that you unlock more upgrade points and customization options as you go through the campaign. Unfortunately, it's weighed down by some questionable boss design - a lot of instakills feel cheap even though the game says it will usually warn you, the next-to-last boss Archangel works differently from all of the other bosses, and not to the game's benefit, and there weren't really any bosses that I felt I wanted to try going up against a second time after winning - and the lack of difficulty modes, so while I could play with the other two ships I didn't use to complete the campaign, there's not really much left for me after just a little over an hour of play, and there's no easy mode (or RPG-style grinding) for l...
Review: Tuesday 4, April. 2023 I think it's a very good game, it just need some quality of life features, like back buttons for some screens, like for the screen where you choose your abilities, so you can go back to the screen where you choose the mission. Also a menu button after you lose to retry the mission using the last chosen abilities would be good, so you don't have to go to the abilities selection screen. Also would be good to remember the last selected abilites in the abilities selection screen. Sounds for the enemies and their projectiles that don't have sounds would be nice too if they are made not loud and not annoying. Cloud saving would be nice too. Score: I give it a 4.5 of 5 stars. Conclusion: Basically a hidden gem. I'm surprised it hasn't been reviewed by more people. I'm happy with the purchase.
Really good iteration on a classic genre, loved it. The variety between classes is great, so it's a lot different facing the same boss with a each of the 3 classes. Adding on top of that is the fact that each boss fight requires you to reconsider if the selected build and abilities are the best choice for that specific boss, so it's a lot of fun coming up with different strategies. Music was on point. I would really appreciate it if you make the upgrades screen accessible in the ability selection screen, so it's easier to go back and forth when coming up with a new build.
This isn't a difficulty curve, it's a difficulty elevator shaft.
Good game, nice mechanics, had a lot of fun playing it. 10/10 - would recommend it to everyone.
Woow, I just finished the game, the bosses were amazing to beat all of them. Well yes after some pain and cry I managed to beat them all. The game overall is fun to play, I really like the auto shoot game mechanic plus paired with life steal... awesome! However I am not a big fan of games that have too many stuff on the screen and glowing, that was irritating me, somewhere in the middle I got used to it and the first few bosses were problematic due to this. Definitely I am waiting for the second journey through the Sol system! And btw the music makes the game!
Really close to something great, solid gameplay loop, I hope you continue working on the game and bring it to it's full potential.
Good game, recommend it!
Good stuff. Bullet hell, straight to the point boss rush, fun upgrade system with a wide variety of customization. Just all in all a good time
