About This Game

Presented by Cracking The Cryptic, YouTube’s most popular Sudoku channel, comes a new game based on our frequently requested variant: Arrow Sudoku.

In Arrow Sudoku, every puzzle contains a handful of "arrows" laid out in unique patterns. The numbers found along the shaft of the arrow must sum up to the number at the base. This simple rule leads to endless variety in the puzzles you will conquer. Fans of our previous game Miracle Sudoku will enjoy the hybrid puzzles we have included in the collection including Arrow Knight and Arrow Sandwich puzzles. These puzzles were curated by Mark and Simon and include puzzles made by them as well as from a large number of guest creators. Fans of Cracking the Cryptic's YouTube channel will recognize many of these authors as some of the most talented creators working today!

In Cracking The Cryptic’s games, players start with zero stars and earn stars by solving puzzles. The more puzzles you solve, the more stars you earn and the more puzzles you get to play. Only the most dedicated (and cleverest) sudoku players will finish all the puzzles. Of course the difficulty is carefully calibrated to ensure lots of puzzles at every level (from easy through to extreme). Anyone familiar with their YouTube channel will know that Simon and Mark take pride in teaching viewers to be better solvers and, in these games, they always craft the puzzles with the mindset of trying to help solvers improve their skills.

Mark and Simon have both represented the UK many times at the World Sudoku Championship and you can find more of their puzzles (and lots of others) on the internet’s biggest sudoku channel Cracking The Cryptic.

Features:
  • 40 beautiful puzzles on launch
  • 100 puzzles in all with regular updates to reach this total in the first year post launch.

If you watch Cracking the Cryptic on Youtube you'll recognise some world-class constructors in this collection. It's got the same great user interface as the other games in the series and I've really enjoyed the first eleven puzzles, despite having little experience with arrow sudoku. You may be one of the people who wonder why you'd want to pay for sudoku puzzles when you can do them for free on the internet - and I don't mean that dismissively, I think we've all been there. The answer is that the potential for creativity in such a seemingly simple nine-by-nine grid is preposterously high, and the free, auto-generated online puzzles don't showcase any of it. A hand-crafted puzzle by a master of the form is unrecognisably superior, and well worth paying for. (If you're still here, and you don't watch Cracking the Cryptic, I recommend that you start! And if you do watch but aren't a Patron I urge you to sign up; it's absurdly good value).

This one could use a combination window like killer cages. But so far it is fun like the others.

This is the first of the sudoku games where I feel I have to not recommend. The puzzles were interesting at first but as soon as I got into the 20's, I started to be unable to follow the logic of the hints. The fact I see the same troubles in the forum does not help this. When I can't follow the logic and see how you're making the deductions you are, I get frustrated because it doesn't feel like I'm actually solving it, I'm just guessing and letting the error checker tell me if I'm wrong or not. I'm not sure if it's the difficulty curve or what but this one is definitely not as satisfying as the Thermo Sudoku and the Chess Sudoku sets. I found myself enjoying those a lot more and cannot recommend this one until it's cleaned up more than a little bit.

This is the best Cracking the Cryptic app so far. In terms of difficulty, Arrow Sudoku is about medium. Not extremely difficult like some of the other varieties, but definitely harder than, say, Sandwich Sudoku or Thermo Sudoku. It does involve math, which may be a good thing for some, and less enjoyable for others. It's not heavy math; in Killer Sudoku, for example, you need a calculator to keep track of the different options (which they provide in their Killer Sudoku app as well), but here, it's simple enough math that you don't really need it. The app itself is quite beautiful and obvious effort was put into polish and a themed environment. I find that it's a theme I like and appreciate. There are even animated rays of light shining in the background! What more could you want? It's a puzzle app. Details like that are where it goes above and beyond for me. So overall this should be good for new Sudoku players and also be interesting enough to keep experienced solvers occupied and e...

I'm a big fan of the YouTube channel and own the "Cracking the Cryptic" collection which includes all the games currently available (at a discounted price). Love them all and, with arrow sudoku being one of my favourite variants, this will provide many hours of relaxing entertainment for me.

I loved this developer and jumped on every game they pushed out. Sadly updates ground to a halt some time ago and there are still 3 (I think?) titles that have either well and truly reached or nearly reached, the "regular updates to have 100 puzzles in the first year of launch" promise, this hasn't happened. This game is now 11 months old and it has not had a single update with no response from the devs. I don't follow their social media etc ... so perhaps there is a valid reason for this. The base pack is great but you will burn through them quickly and go insane checking your update queue every day for more. Trust me on that.

I've gone through the first 21 puzzles and feel confident recommending Arrow Sudoku. Though I don't love the interface (and prefer Cracking the Cryptic's web interface), it's still more than adequate and does have some nice optional features such as automatically removing pencil marks when you put in a digit. If you've a beginner with arrow sudoku, I suspect you'll struggle with some of the harder puzzles. In any event, this is well worth the price even with only 40 puzzles, and I believe Mark recently said there will be quarterly updates bringing this to at least 100 puzzles total.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS, AND THE OTHER SUDOKU GAMES, BY GOYA (Cracking the Cryptic)!!! I've enjoyed doing Sudoku puzzles for a long time, but hit a ceiling for the level I could do. Watching the "Cracking the Cryptic" YouTube page has not only helped me get better, but also introduced me to creative, beautiful hand-crafted puzzles and a bunch of variations on the regular rules. Arrow Sudoku might not be my favorite variation, but doing the puzzles in this app has greatly increased my enjoyment of the rule set.

Addictive. Thanks to the expert setters I amaze myself every time. Just when I think there is no way for me to solve one I find one more clue and before I know it I have completed it. Well worth the low price.
