Put down the game for a bit hoping 1.09 would improve things, but it looks like I'll be waiting a bit longer still.

About This Game
Broken Arrow is a large-scale real-time modern warfare tactics game that combines the complexity of joint-forces wargaming with action-packed real-time tactics gameplay.
Featuring over 300 realistic military units and technologies, each battle offers an immersive experience with endless replayability.
Experience a gripping narrative-driven campaign featuring 19 handcrafted missions set in the Baltic region, played from both the United States and Russian perspectives.
The campaign features a thrilling plot of escalating global tensions, where each mission presents new tactical challenges and story developments. Whether defending key positions with elite units or launching bold combined arms offensives, every mission is designed to test your command skills in dynamic, realistic warfare scenarios.
On top of the single-player campaign, engage against AI in the Skirmish mode on 19 maps based on real life locations, choosing your favourite specializations and difficulty levels. Team up with your friends and learn the game at your own pace against various AI presets that represent Battlegroups you will face on the battlefield. At release, Skirmish doesn’t currently allow playing co-operatively with AI as team allies, but it is planned for a future update.
But if you’d rather face human opponents, hop online and engage in thrilling Multiplayer matches up to 5vs5. Track your progress as you rise through the leaderboard and you gain experience as a general while you level up and gain new medals.
Unleash your creativity with the powerful Scenario Editor, the same tool used to craft the game's missions. Design custom scenarios complete with cutscenes and dialogue using a visual scripting system—no coding required.
Share your creations with the community via the Steam Workshop or download them to experience endless user-generated content.
Craft your unique army deck by selecting from a vast array of units, each customizable to suit your strategy.
With over 300 units and more than 1,500 possible combinations, you can tailor your forces to match your playstyle. Modify vehicles and aircraft with different weapons, armor packages, and support systems to gain the upper hand on the battlefield.
Victory begins with meticulous planning. Broken Arrow offers a diverse range of units categorized into six key roles:
Recon Units – Specialized in spotting and marking enemy positions.
Infantry – Versatile ground troops equipped with various weapons.
Fighting Vehicles – Includes tanks, ATGM carriers, and fire support vehicles.
Support – Artillery and anti-aircraft units providing long-range support.
Helicopters – Ideal for rapid deployment and hit-and-run tactics.
Airplanes – Control the skies with interceptors and ground attack aircraft.
Deploy to the battlefield via land, sea and air. Use paratroopers and helicopters to rapidly seize key locations, reinforce them with heavy tanks and break enemy counter attacks with artillery and tactical missile strikes.
Infiltrate special forces behind enemy lines to disrupt enemy logistics and provide laser designation for your planes. Use the terrain to your advantage to ambush, out flank and outsmart your enemy.
Engage in combat across expansive battlefields inspired by real-world locations. From industrial harbors to sprawling urban centers, each environment offers strategic opportunities and challenges.
Utilize terrain features to ambush enemies, secure key positions, and execute flanking maneuvers.

It's a tragedy, really. Buried deep beneath a mountain of incompetence and user-hostile design, there is a good game in Broken Arrow. The realistic units and tactical depth show a glimmer of what could have been one of the best RTS games in a decade. But let's not dwell on 'what ifs'. That potential isn't just squandered; it's been actively sabotaged by a series of baffling and frankly insulting design choices that poison the entire experience from the ground up. Let's start with the most blatant deception: the "single-player" mode. To call it that is not just misleading, it's a bald-faced lie. There is no single-player in Broken Arrow. Every facet of the game is shackled to an online connection, turning what should be a personal experience into a hostage situation with the game's servers. The campaign is an unmitigated disaster of clunky mechanics and brutally unfair design, but the ultimate insult is being forced online just to suffer through it. This contempt for the player extend...
Would not buy in the current state, 2 months post launch game is still missing critical features such as a surrender button or a leavers penalty, leading to every game being a 4v5 or 3v5, etc, meaning the only way to have a full squad is to play in a 5 stack. Furthermore, the Game is heavily Russian biased with tons of Armour spam that is just impossible to counter most times, as American armour gets overwhelmed quickly by Russia's double-shooting Kornet armour/inf or cruise spam. The Recent balance patch that we have waited 2 months for seems like an early April fools joke? With direct price hikes on US units used to counter the Russian Spam and questionable changes like reducing the amount of AC130s you can have in your deck and buffing the Battle Bus??. The game feels like an early access game at this point. At the 50 quid price point, i don't think its worth it in this current state, waiting 2 months for the latest patch.... is just rude.. on top of this higher elo is filled wi...
Wait 2 months for a patch, it's just a few terrible price changes. These devs are useless, this game is hopeless lol
It's a good game, but if they add other countries like China, France, Germany, England, Iran, Israel, Ukraine, and alliances like NATO, it would be much better.
Honesty, I really don't understand the recent negative reviews over what... something as simple as a Save fix? I don't believe it. The game is excellent. As a nostalgic World in Conflict player, I feel right at home. It's basically WiC with much better graphics, better interface, modern military tech (one of the few where you can simulate WWIII in 2025), and the sound is an absolute eargasm! Every shot, missile, and explosion is almost too realistic. The music is fantastic as well. Sure, there are some things that need improvement, but the Devs seem very active in making Broken Arrow maximize its potential.
TL;DR: Unique multiplayer, but rough around the edges. Cheaters are everywhere, the anti-cheat is as real as winning a war against a weak neighbor country in one month, and both MMR and netcode feel like they were coded by interns on their first day. Matches are long, unbalanced, and full of quitters, which is more of a design flaw than a player issue. Single player is not worth touching. Updates arrive slowly, marketed as “meaningful,” but usually fix little while breaking something else. Buy it on sale, know exactly what hole you are jumping into, and you might have some fun. Just do not expect anything close to polished or professional. Buy it for the multiplayer only, and train yourself to turn off half your brain, since rush B is always the meta. There is no real anti-cheat, so cheaters are as common as mosquitoes in summer. It got so bad that the developers had to lock the cheater report thread on Discord because they could not keep up and it was making the game, and some re...
Having to wait two months for a first balance update that then includes only a small amount of tweaks to unit-costs and completely fails to address any of the bigger balance-problem is unacceptable, especially while the game is still without penalties for leavers and basic options like not accepting mirror-matches are still not working. In addition to this, the communication from the devs is abysmal/non-existant. Might have a promising future, but for the moment I unfortunately have to recommend avoiding this game.
Genuinely, this game is a big mess. But not in the sense that it's a bad game. In fact, it's the most fun I've had with an RTS since Empire at War. The gameplay is engaging and offers many ways to play and customise to your liking. I just faced a team that was completely focused on ballistic missiles, and they wiped the floor with us. So where's the mess? The surroundings. The release was a bit of a mess. Some quality of life features are missing, such as the ability to save campaign replays, but this is not a big problem. Sadly, the button that's supposed to accept mirror matches does nothing, and you get them either way. Leavers are a problem, but it's really not the developers' problem. The same goes for hackers (looking at you, China). The problem lies with the community, which is why the game got such a bad rating. Half of the negative comments are Chinese people complaining about a cheater being banned and calling it racist and imperialist. Take a look at those comments — t...
I have no idea what kind of anti-cheat this game uses, if it even has one, but it is clearly not doing its job. In about one out of every ten matches, I encounter blatant cheaters. Some have unlimited points, full map vision, or tanks firing their cannons like machine guns. It is obvious when you are up against someone cheating, and it happens often enough that it is starting to ruin the game for me. (As of 4 Aug 2025 at high elos 1900+ close to every other game has cheaters in them) The developers keep saying they are working on it, but weeks have gone by and nothing has changed. Even when players submit clear video evidence, those same cheaters are still climbing the ranks. That alone proves the anti-cheat system is completely ineffective. In higher ELO matches, the experience becomes even more frustrating. Playing as the US against Russia often feels pointless. If Russian players are unsure where your units are hiding in forests or urban areas, they can just fire incendiary GRADs...
