when this game first came out i was disapointed, the building and district system just felt worse than frostpunk 1. so i put a few hours in, and gave up. then after a long time i decided to sit down and just give it a shot. it was way better than i thought. the gameplay fell together very nicely and i genuinly enjoyed it. although i do think frost punk excelled a little more in some areas, such as heating and stylisation (just my opinion, but i liked the designs and style of single building construction rather than districts) but the voting system is new and i liked it a lot (even though i cheesed it my constantly reducing the population of the opposing ideals) the only other thing that i would say this game fell short of the first game is how the city changes as you go down specific ideoligies. in the first if you went down ORDER, the city would change visibly, not just stats, banners would hang from roofs, the city would turn red, propaganda messages would play. that isn't here in th...

Roadmap
We’ve been hard at work improving the game with your feedback, introducing patches, fixes, and quality-of-life improvements. This roadmap is a glimpse into 2025 and beyond, including the console launch, Free Major Content Updates, DLCs and more, that will significantly expand your Frostpunk 2 experience.

About the Game

Frostpunk 2 elevates the city-survival genre to a new level. Take the role of a Steward and lead your city through a cascade of calamities taking place in a postapocalyptic, snowy setting. Build large city districts with their string of endless needs and demands. Navigate through conflicting interests of factions that populate your metropolis. As the needs of the city grow and factional power at its core rises, only you can steer the society towards an uncertain future.

The world is overtaken by an ever present winter, which makes expansion of the city the only way for the survival of mankind. In order to grow, the metropolis needs resources like coal and oil, just like its citizens require food and warmth. In Frostpunk 2, it's your job to tackle this never ending circle of supply and demand.

The number of your citizens steadily grows, making the task of governing them and satisfying their demands all the more challenging. As the Steward you will have to maneuver carefully across the interests of many groups inhabiting the city.

People of your city want to have a voice in how you run things. Each faction has its own ideology and ideas for the future, yet they also have one thing in common - insatiable thirst for power. Choose your allies in the Council Hall wisely.

Make tough life-and-death decisions as you allocate heat across your city, supported by new research topics and heat-oriented laws. Choose districts that need the most warmth with the help of the Heat Management system with a detailed temperature overlay.

The story of Frostpunk 2 introduces a multi-chapter saga set in the frozen wastes. Spanning across the life of the Steward this campaign lets you feel the burden of leadership as you take the responsibility for thousands of lives. At the same time, the sandbox mode called Utopia Builder with infinite play time leaves you room for boundless social and infrastructural experiments.

Frostpunk 2 comes with a comprehensive and versatile modding tool. FrostKit will let you create your own maps, models, and scenarios inside the game. Now, only your imagination can limit the destination your city is heading to!

While I applaud the decision to try something different with Frostpunk 2, and I hate to give an 11 bit game a negative rating (especially after just finishing The Alters). This is just isn't it for me. I think there are just way too many moving parts, to the point that I don't really care about any of them, which causes this weird thing where I'm both overwhelmed and bored at the same time. The prologue was fun, but when I realised I'm now doubling my issues with another colony I called it quits.
This comes off as a bit of a sophomore slump from the devs. While Frostpunk 1 was a masterfully challenging and engaging game, Frostpunk 2 seems to have jettisoned some of what works in favor of simply claiming "bigger". The most obvious flaw is the entire UI is just horrendous. Additionally the changes to city elements and districts makes this feel more like a 4X Civilization game than a real-time, city builder. While districts do bring something to the table, the limitations placed on them really shoehorn the player as opposed to the traditional city builder free for all. Ultimately, I do recommend the game, but it's very marginal. Im talking this fell 50.1% on the side of recommendation versus not.
It's okay. Polished, good vibes. Boring gameplay. This game has nothing on FP1. Saw somewhere that the devs said about this relative flop "singleplayer is dead" It's not, you just didn't make a game that was as good as the first one.
The Game is beautifully made and fun to play through - but it feels more like a DLC than a standalone game. I've beaten the full story twice (on a modest difficulty) with only 12 hours played. There is some replay-ability based on the choices you've made, and the difficulty level, but the maps are static and main story doesn't change much. I'd love to recommend this but with a price tag of $45 there are better options out there.
You had one of the most unique games with Frostpunk 1, and you decided to make a normal city builder (even though a very good one). Also ditched your engine for UE, which gave us many technical problems. I just don't understand it. What a pitty...
Frostpunk 2 is a triumphant return to the frozen wasteland, and as an old fan of the original, I found myself hooked from the first flake of snowfall. Where the first game kept each new challenge tucked away in its own DLC, Frostpunk 2 throws them all into a single, sprawling campaign—suddenly you’re not just saving one settlement, you’re juggling the fates of multiple cities at once. It’s an insane upgrade in scope, and it feels every bit as epic as it sounds. One of my favorite additions is the introduction of distinct factions—think of them like political parties, each with its own vision for survival. Do you side with the traditionalists, clinging to the lessons of the past? Or throw in your lot with the reformers, ready to reshape society from the ice up? Every choice sends ripples through your cities, and watching your people react to each alliance is endlessly engaging. Innovation in survival strategy games is hard to pull off—once you’ve mastered resource loops ...
I really enjoyed the first one but the second one throws so much stuff at you that you have the impression of doing homework rather than playing a game...
Great game — loving it so far! That said, I’m not a fan of repeating the same steps over again after a freeze or crash, especially when I have to reload and try to remember what I was doing when it last saved (or autosaved). It’s happened so many times now that I’m beyond frustrated. Once I hit Act 3, the game started freezing constantly. After hours of digging through YouTube videos and Google searches, I finally found a tip that pointed to the auto temperature controller as the issue. Disabling it helped — you just have to toggle the button instead of leaving it on all the time. But then, about half an hour later, the game started randomly crashing. I haven’t figured that one out yet. My PC isn’t the issue — it’s less than a month old and more than capable of running this game. Whatever the cause is, it seems to be on their end. Hopefully they fix these problems, and if they do, I’ll gladly update my review. But considering this is months after full rele...
I like Frostpunk I do not like Frostpunk 2 It just doesn't scratch the same itch - every single time I try to get lost in it I just end of thinking about what other game I could be spending my time on. Not sure what it is but there's definitely something "off" about this installment. Kinda wish it was FP1 but with multiple civilizations, instead we got this weird district system that doesn't hit the same. I appreciate the effort and risky change all the same. You hate to see it and I don't like giving the thumbs down on it but it's gotta happen, hopefully they'll adjust for the next installment (if there is one)
