This game has the potential to be a good game, unfortunatly right now its not. the unitbalancing is pretty bad, for example skelettonarchers will just shred your army, they kill T2 swordman problem before they reach them and even T1 cavallery. struggels against them. The heroes need to be balanced too the elder is extremly weak, the sorcerer that starts with an T3, 490 gold unit and an ok spell compared to the elder that starts with a weak army but gets 100 gold wich will not even buy you a T2 unit and his spell is very weak. The ambush casualties are much to harsh, they are almost crippeling. I dont just want to be forced to follow a trail sometimes i want to wander off the trail to take a fight or go to a mercenary camp 2 tiles away but the rewards of the fight will probably be not even close to the losses of the ambush. The Map could use some more locations. I almost always died in the first round because you cant do enough things to get strong enough to beat the last fight. It...

UPDATE: (June 11, 2021) My Response to both the indie developer of this game and to the comments on my review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8QRR2XZrqs --------------------- ORIGINAL UN-EDITED REVIEW: (June 10, 2021) Looks pretty cool on the Steam trailer.. and then you actually launch the game and see... This game both looks and feels like a mindless low effort asset flip. Whether it is an asset flip or not doesn't really matter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFd4MMxyUfw&t=332s ..This game lacks real effort and it shows by the complete lack of audio adjustments and video settings. The music is way too loud and you can't even swap it from full screen to windowed should you want to. This game, as it is right now is simply a click on a map grid and then place your troops and let total RNG determine the outcome. There is no inventory. There is no materials to acquire or resources to loot and sell. There is no weapons or armor to craft or loot to help fortify your troops...
this is a cute little game worth getting doxxed over by a random Youtuber with 18k subs, and yes I'm not kidding this actually happened, I'll explain later. ok so let's talk about the game first. I like it however I keep getting f*cked over by the rng and haven't really been able to get past the second boss, however, this might also because it's 4am. the art style is honestly great I really like it however as of now the map is kinda bland and there isn't a lot of things to explore or do, I think it would be fun to add some extra things there. onto the doxxing part, there is a negative review here that has a couple links to some youtube videos this person made. i posted 2 comments there about his shitty review (he has disabled the comments now) and he ended up making a video about it that showed my full name for around 6 seconds. very nice i made a 40 year old Youtuber mad, he called me an imbecile and said i have 4 brain cells. 10/10 would like to get doxxed again
This is nicely presented mash up of Oregon Trail and a simple battle game - your character is moving across a map with a path that appears to be "safe". Leaving that path appears to be punishing but there can be other things off the path. You start your journey with a small army and by the time you get to the end of the path you need to have a bigger army. Figuring out how to do that is the game.
A well-rounded and entertaining game, especially considering the price. Everything runs super-smoothly and I am yet to see a bug. You need to think ahead in this game as selling or using up too many reinforcements before a major battle can cause you to die. Overall, I really like the gameplay. There are still some things that could be ironed out in future patches, like unit balancing and gold gain, but this is IMO pretty minor, and I have no doubts in the dev's dilligence. Game is otherwise solid. I do not quite understand reviews by people like Zaxtor99. Bashing a $3 indie game for 'not having windowed mode or achievements' and for 'loud music' is pretty childish and does absolutely nothing but deprive potential players from a pretty fun experience. People like that are willing to kill potentially successful games (and screw their talented devs), just to stroke their own ego (and get 200 views on youtube). Add to this the fact that Zaxtor99 falsely accused the dev of asset flipping,...
Apparently there's some weird controversy about the game in some of the reviews (mention of a youtuber leaving a negative video), and yeah there are maybe a few things to be left desired, but it is certainly worth $5. It's fun, appropriately challenging, and there's a lot of things that are revealed through gameplay that are definitely not caught at first glance. The graphics are actually kinda cute and have their own aesthetic. There's actually a fair amount of strategy in picking your "starting class", which can dictate part of the way you play the game, and there's also strategic choices with navigating the map, risking RNG for more loot / your special / etc. I've personally had most success as an elder. That being said, it's a $5 indie game, so if you were expecting a full blown RPG then yeah this is not that.
I bought this game on a -20% sale, but even at full price I would say it is worth the money. It's a fun little game at a price that reflects that, but I would say there is more to it than first meets the eye. Yes, if you just move through the map plonking down units and not thinking about it, it becomes boring and repetitive, and you tend to lose. Which I did, a lot, before I worked out how to clear an island. But that's not how I think you should play it. If you chose a hero to match your play style and think carefully about how to arrange and upgrade your army and the route you will take through each map, you can start to develop a very satisfying strategy. The art style is simple, but cute. There is enough variety in the enemies to keep each fight interesting, especially the boss fights. I hate the vampire though- that guy is nasty. The volume cannot be changed as someone commented, but since there is no speech I didn't see that as a problem, I just adjusted my laptop settings. Ove...
Extremely poor balancing. RNG is the entire game. There's little to no skill involved. It's like getting a root canal. Honestly, it feels like they set the balance of damage, resources, and all that, and just went with their first set. There was no play testing of any kind.
Like the Dominions series, but lighter... way, way lighter.
7/10, quite good, worth the price. Quick small game and It's only 3 bucks so don't expect much. You can finish it in two hours but if you know what are you doing then in an hour too. Tips: -I could only beat the final boss with the warrior hero, the others are weaker, they need balancing. -Only go off the path if there is something to get on the first grid. Don't even pay attention to the enemies, camps far off the road, they are only there to trick you. -Don't be scared to avoid enemy groups if you can. Think about what is ahead of you on the path, then decide in what order you want to do them. To the dev: -It reminds me of the good old simple online flash games. Very nostalgic, nice work! -Pls. balance the heroes if you can. -On the third map my game crashes when loads in skeleton battles. -The troop placement was a little annoying, I couldn't see where I could place units. You should implement some hint for the players. Maybe actual grids, or changes on the ground color or the gra...
