About This Game

Welcome to your newest gig — solving murders in the Afterlife for Mx. Death, the grimmest of reapers!

The Afterlife is filled with nefarious deities who tirelessly make humans kill each other in the world of the living. Your job is to catch them using the clues left behind to arrange the Weapons, Motivations, and Locations that were present at the time of death.

Crime Reaper takes the intrigue of murder mystery logic puzzles, like Cluedo and Inspector Parker, and combines it with the ingenuity and simplicity of Sudoku. There are over 16,000 possible murder scenarios that can occur and likely millions of different puzzle variations. To top it off, there are 14 different criminals to catch in Career mode with plenty of hijinks for you and Mx. Death to experience.

I love to play Sudoku, picross, and other similar logic puzzle type games, so I was excited to play Crime Reaper. The gameplay is a fun mix between Sudoku and a logic puzzle, and is quite easy to play once you grasp the rules. The puzzles aren't too difficult, but the biggest flaw the game has is the lack of pencil marks. In any logic game such as Sudoku, picross, or Minesweeper, etc, is the ability to mark squares on the board to keep track of what can be where, and for me playing without this feature is very annoying. On the higher difficulties, the UI can be a little frustrating as well, as you cannot rearrange your clues and you will have to scroll, so you can't see them all at once. I would much prefer to be able to sort the clues in the same way you can rearrange your evidence tiles. Overall, I do like the game but it is difficult for me to personally recommend it at the 8.99 (7.91 on sale) price while it lacks some critical QOL features. I do hope that these features can be a...

The puzzle element is decent. You need to place pieces on a board according to the logic clues provided while also adhering to the basic rule that each room, row and column can only have one of a given color/type of evidence. There are up to three colors of evidence: blue locations, yellow weapons and red motives. There are five difficulty levels to choose from: Beginner, Easy, Normal, Hard and Expert. Beginner levels use a 4x4 grid divided into four 2x2 rooms and only use yellow and red pieces. Easy gives you a 6x6 grid with four 3x3 rooms and starts using all colors. Normal uses either a vertical 9x6 or a horizontal 6x9 board with 6 rooms. Hard and Expert use the full 9x9 with 9 rooms board and only differ in the ambiguity of the clues. It may be a bug, but I found the Hard levels to be more challenging than the Expert levels. Every Expert puzzle I played listed six or more clues with definitive placements of pieces, so I only ever had to figure out which room one of those...

Crime Reaper is a fun puzzle game. Anyone who enjoys logic puzzles will find this title a great time. The story is full of humor but doesn't take up your time in between rounds. Much like sudoku you need to only one type of clue in each column, row, and box. The some rules for clues are explained per puzzle. The interface is clean and readable. Highly recommend

It's murder sudoku! The difficulty is fun (although I'd like there to be a harder difficulty setting, but I'm also a sudoku veteran, so there's that), the rules are clever, the writing is... I'm sure I'll get to it, once I stop clicking fast through it to get to more puzzles :D Very addictive, very nice UI, all in all, I highly recommend this for logic game aficionados.

Overall, a good little game! The puzzles are really fun. They're kind of like crime-themed sudoku with deductive reasoning. The plot and characters are cute, I think it's fun that everyone uses they/them pronouns. I wish that the puzzles connected more to the story rather than feeling like the story was filler in between the puzzles.

Crime Reaper is a fun/relaxing puzzle game about murder Sudoku. The writing is quite entertaining and fits the theme well. I keep finding myself jumping into free play mode for a quick game or two trying to best my record time.

Having a very innovative take on the classic Sudoku formula, "Crime Reaper" is a game that teases the mind like the aforementioned game, while also treating you to a fun and humorous story. The game features several difficulty options, so whether you are good or not-so-good at puzzle games, "Crime Reaper" will have something for you! Rest assured, if you are into challenge, then the harder difficulties will definitely be up your alley! And rest assured, your brain may be tested, but you will be smiling the entire time.

Cool take on sudoku puzzles. The beginning can be confusing but once it clicks it becomes a joy.

A competent, minimalist, sudoku-ish puzzler. Not too hard, even on the largest sized puzzles, which are procedurally generated so you'll never run out. Only complaint is that the tile sorting area could be bigger. Runs great on Linux.
