A criminally underrated game that is finally influenced by classic Digimon games instead of Pokemon. This game is a mishmash of all the best parts of the first 3 Digimon World games fused into one. The city recruitment mechanic and semi-open world style of Digimon World 1 is recreated here. Many of the locations are in fact also callbacks to locations from Digimon World 1. The game also includes a similar day/night system where items and events re-randomize or reset each in game day. You even can learn new techniques by fighitng other monsters(Tama). The taming mechanic is similar to Digimon World 2 where you give the Tama gifts to make them friendlier to you, and depending on how friendly you make them determines the odds of them trying to join you after battle. The game also contains a system where you increase the max level of your Tama by rebirthing(rebooting) them over and over. About This Game
Anode Heart is an homage to the classic monster tamer games of the early 2000s. It's set in a futuristic world where physical and virtual reality are deeply intertwined, and have become almost indistinguishable from one other.
You play as Seek, a robot with no memories. Your journey begins by awakening next to a metallic pod on a foggy shore. While exploring Stack Island, you'll partner up with Tama, mysterious creatures born inside the Net, that have recently started materializing in the Overworld. Your mission will be to find out who and what you are, and with the help of Tama, to prevent a great calamity looming on the horizon.

Beautiful story, interesting system, great monsters and a richly imagined world. I really enjoyed it. Anode Heart is the first monster-trainer game where I filled out the whole monster-dex.
It's a great game that reminds me of digimon world 3, definitely scratched that itch
I'm a huge Pokemon fan, so I enjoy trying out the many different monster tamers that are out there (TemTem, Coromon, Nexomon, etc.). Anode Heart is my favorite of the many non-Pokemon tamers that I've played. The Tamas and types aren't groundbreaking, but are familiar enough to easily jump in. Plus, they add some interesting interactions between types that adds depth to team building. Fascinating world, enjoyable battling mechanics, and unique taming mechanics also make this game incredibly enjoyable. I like the art style and soundtrack as well. The game also runs great on Steam Deck, both in docked and handheld. I highly recommend. I'd rate this game an 8.5/10.
