So I'm a big Fire Emblem and XCOM player, I really enjoy SRPG-like experiences. This game had two things that instantly turned me off of it. - Instead of careful positioning and using cover, you have to run as far around the map as you can to accumulate "dodge" points. Something just doesn't sit right with me, having my best commando standing out in the open doing somersaults to avoid incoming fire. I'm sure that's part of the style here, I just really didn't like it. - Unclear Instructions: My very first map I was told to "assist with 3 frags, using Marco" and I assume frags meant getting kills. Marco not only got 3 kills by himself, but he also assisted with the synchronized combat system in 3 other kills. And I failed the objective. No idea what I did wrong and maybe I'm just on a short fuse tonight, but the annoyance of that made me quit and uninstall the game. This isn't a terrible game, I don't think it's terribly made, but maybe just wait for a good sale if you want to buy it...

The game does very bad job in explaining how to play itself. 1 short tutorial mission and you are thown into a river full of piranhas. It's sad becuase game mechanics looks new and different from another tactic games. But i was beaten 4 times on first or second missions of my run. I didn't get what i did wrong. Maybe it's a good game, but not for me.
Putting Rogue-like/lite elements into a tactics game is a terrible idea. On top of which the game is buggy and i had to beat the story three mores times because of glitched dialogues and sometimes my characters would end up with zero move and would be floating and unable to be moved. The flavor for metal Slug and SNK is here but this I cannot recommend. And alot of the missions types and enemies swarms is so bad and the dodge mechanic is so dumb. It punishes you for defensive play. And The bosses and convoys can really just be so spongy especially the true ending boss which you have to fight 3 times for over 180 HP.
For a roguelike tactics game this one is quite fair and fun. The RNG isn't too bad, mostly having to do with the upgrades that are offered as the result of mission rewards. Damage, armor, dodge, etc. are all static numbers which makes estimating effects of your moves easy and removes the feeling of being cheated that other games can induce when you get a bad damage roll at a clutch moment. Overall a very well designed game. There are rumors of bugs in the game, but as of this writing I have not encountered any at all. Seems whatever was going on with it at launch has been patched out before I bought it. The devs haven't patched it since January, but in my opinion the game is pretty much finished. It would be cool to see it get an expansion or two to expand the world and add more variety to the game, but even as it stands I could see myself continuing to play to unlock all the characters and try to push for the end game of beating a run on the highest difficulty. Overall I would...
Great to break into tactical rpgs. Plus it has Leona Heidern so it is great just from that.
I was skeptical at first. The idea of having a Metal Slug game being a tactical roguelite instead of a fast-paced bullet hell felt weird to me (I have seen MS Attack and Defense on mobile but it didn't click with me). But this time I was captivated by the back to pixel art and good looking I've been missing for a long time. Recent entries in the franchise tried to introduce 3D or HD art styles and animations that felt sloppy, which for Metal Slug, known for It's astonishing and fluid animations specially in MS 1,2/X and 3 really took a hit afterwards. This time it was looking lik Metal Slug, despite the strange gameplay change. Gotta say, This game is awesome! animations are great, art direction is great, pixel art is great, game looks great. Tactical RPG gameplay felt really good too, as a longtime fan of Metal Slug (Not really been into Strategy RPG tho) Not too strategic to move to far from Metal Slug but still sell of the Tactics strategy vibe. Levels felt a bit repetitive howeve...
Very unique and challenging. So far it's been a fun time getting my cheeks completely clapped and trying again and again and getting a huge dopamine rush after just barely surviving a tough encounter with a single unit alive at 1HP. Plus all the unlocks have been pretty fun. Pretty chaotic experience. I didn't expect to enjoy it so much
NOT THAT BAD
tricky tolearn but fun once you get going.
Good game.
