About This Game

Weird West legends meet eldritch horror in BLOOD WEST, an immersive stealth FPS. Become the Undead Gunslinger, doomed to roam the barren lands until he finds the means to purge their curse and free his soul. No, this isn’t your typical Wild West desperado redemption arc. This is a damnation arc.

The Canyons, the Swamp, and the Mountains. Each swarming with abominable monsters and unholy demons, these are open-ended worlds for you to explore freely at your own pace. It will take the player over 20 hours on average to complete all three scenarios, and over 35 if they want to see everything the barren lands have to offer.

Blood West is a stealth FPS inspired by the genre classics such as the Thief series (whose fans will be happy to hear the voice of Stephen Russell, the actor voicing the master-thief Garrett, returning here as the protagonist), S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, or - from the contemporary catalog - Hunt: Showdown. The gameplay rewards the careful approach: scouting the area, stalking your enemies, and striking from the shadows. Can you figure out a way to clear a fort full of ghouls and monsters without raising an alarm?

The Barren Lands present the player with a nightmarish, twisted vision of the Wild West legends. The curse that has befallen the realm has corrupted every living thing, defiled the land itself, while summoning restless spirits and dark entities. In this mixture of gunslinger pulp and Lovecraftian horror, dark occult magick presents just as much of a threat as sudden lead poisoning.

In Blood West you will meet many colorful, yet strangely twisted, fully-voiced NPCs. Just as much prisoners of the Barren Lands as you are, they will sometimes share their unusual stories and send you on various missions. Play nice and they might reward you or become your allies. Cross them and risk their wrath.

The game won’t hold your hand. You’ll have to explore the land for yourself (buying a map from a vendor might prove useful!), and figure out your own way to approach quests. As you poke around the three expansive maps, keep an eye out for hidden places and secret stashes. There’s gold in the mountains! Fair warning - it’s probably cursed.

If sneaking around isn’t exactly your thing, or you feel that you have a power advantage over your enemies, you can always take the head-on approach and meet your enemies guns blazing. Blood West comes from the creators of the fan-favorite boomer shooter POSTAL: Brain Damaged, so much gratuitous fantasy violence and pixelated blood splatter is to be expected!

One man’s hell might be another hoarder’s paradise! From simple one-use items like bandages, through medical tinctures, explosives and incendiaries, straight to arcane artifacts that - once slotted - can change the way you play the game, the Barren Lands are just filled with STUFF. There are tons of useful items to discover, and there’s a special player’s stash crate for all those super-rare potions that you’ll hoard and never use.

A gunslinger without a gun would be just a regular slinger. Where’s the fun in that? Blood West makes sure you’ll have plenty of weapons to choose from. Revolvers, rifles, shotguns, carabines - a great variety of firearms, from standard army-issue to those infused with powerful magic, or straight-up possessed. And if you prefer not to cause a ruckus, there’s a wide selection of hand-to-hand combat weapons and archery weapons to pick your favorites from.

The RPG-like perk-based progression system in Blood West will allow you to highly customize the gameplay experience to your liking. Become a stealthy hunter, a revolver-fanning gunman or a relentless berserker. You will gain experience and progress through the skill tree, while discovering new artifacts in each of the scenarios that will bestow on you additional abilities. Combining skills and load-out creates more possible playstyles than you’d normally be able to explore in one playthrough.

Are you ready to take back the frontier from the dark forces of demonic corruption and earn the right to move on to a better world? The Barren Lands call you, Gunslinger!

When I first saw Blood West, it looked really interesting. It had some unique concepts with a heavy emphasis on "old school stealth" and "eldritch horror". This really captivated me but, I heard that it was riddled with bugs and issues when it first came out, so, I done what I usually do - wishlist it and wait till it gets some love poured into it. Here I am, in 2025 FINALLY playing Blood West... 2 years after it came out. I am not sure if I got this in a Humble Bundle or got it gifted by a friend but, I can say this with all due respect - I had so much fun exploring this world. Learning about the creatures and just downright sneaking around with a pair of bear fists killing everything!
Pro's
⚫I loved the stealth aspect of the game because it felt rewarding. You can almost 1 hit kill anything in stealth with a headshot, melee and range. You also get a little bar at the bottom letting you know your "stealth" and 2 icons - an eye and ear symbol indicating seen and ...

I don't usually do in depth reviews or reviews at all, but I was honestly pretty disappointed with Blood West. I got it because I really enjoyed Gloomwood and wanted more stealth games like it. Blood West is a stealth game but I feel it's very similar to souls like games as you will be dying a lot, especially in Chapter 3. I just wanted to note down the things that make me somewhat dislike this overall good game. 1. You know how in FPS games the sniper always sways back and forth? Yeah that's every gun, and it will usually make you not miss shots whenever you get caught and chased. The reason that's such an issue is my other problem. 2. Headshots are practically required unless you like using shotguns. Most pistols require 3 to 4 shots to the body to kill your average enemy, which isn't too bad cause you'd just headshot for extra damage but the sway makes it near impossible to do that. 3. Healing items are mostly useless since you can get equipment that passively gives you hea...

Guns, booze and tits in the wild undead west. What more can a man ask for.

Unforgiving. Creepy. Tense. Atmospheric. Rewarding. It's a game about how you can adapt to your enemies with limited resources. It's a game about learning their patterns, exploiting their weaknesses, and surviving through cunning rather than brute force.

The description doesn't lie when it says that this plays like a mix of Hunt Showdown, Stalker, and Thief. If those games appeal to you, especially if you're looking for a kind of "single player" immersive sim version of what Hunt offers, this is a perfect game for you. The only complaint I'd have is that Stephen Russell, while an excellent VA, feels very much out of place and his voice lines come off as incongruous with the gore-y western world of Blood West, but that's a nitpick, really.

Ever tried playing a survival-crafting game, or maybe something like Fallout or State of Decay, but added mods or imposed rules on yourself to create a hardcore experience? Where the idea was using whatever you could to keep pushing, scraping through encounters, never knowing what you'll find next? Well this game is that, but from the ground up. Thanks to some clever mechanics and NO save scumming, progress feels earned but dying doesn't become a time-waster. Plus all those corsets and thick thighs on display are an excellent touch if I do say so myself. Kudos to the devs!

In a sea of half-baked AAA releases that continue to raise prices while providing sub-par games, Blood West is a an awesome game for very little money. Just goes to show that pumping more money into development doesn't correlate to a better product. You will get far more out of this game than the money you spend on it. As a bonus, the devs seem to be good people who just want the people who buy their games to be satisfied with their purchase. TLDR: BUY THIS GAME

The game is really solid. Definitely enough here for most people to have a great time and even I had enjoyable moments. But the gameplay loop gets to a point, very early on, where it feels as though you are doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over again. Never was there a point where I thought, "Maybe I should do it this way" which is what I yearn for when I experience a game like this. Although this game did not satisfy the itch I thought it would, that is not to say it won't for anyone else. I can definitely see why it is very positive. Just not for me.

Pretty good game, doesn't try to be too complex or revolutionary, it's focused on achieving its purpose to provide an entertaining experience in a not so explored nor popular genre. Please, go for more stuff like this Hyperstrange and New Blood, the world needs more stealth based action games with focus on difficulty, interesting settings and cool mechanics. Only real feedback I could provide for Blood West is for developers to maybe look into the enemy AI, it works, it's fine, it can surprise you. But they could take a thing or tow from Gloomwood's AI and improve further on it (shameless jab at Gloomwood, in good intention of course). Also, new players, play in Blood, Sweat and Tears difficulty, it's the real way the game is meant to be played. It will be challenging and punishing in the beggining, but totally worth it.
