This developer *might* be very cleverly trying to imbue the futility of war into the player by making there no protection against mines on the first click, having level design which invariably causes most levels to have at least one 50/50 guess to complete. They might also have just made a subpar game and given it fancy graphics. I got 15/16 achievements for this in 53 minutes. I won't be refunding it out of respect for the developer, and because it was only $3, but I wouldn't blame anyone who did. I also encountered a bug related to the scaling of the numbers on first click several times, and discovered the achievement I'm missing is "click on dogs in specific scenarios" after finishing the game, and there's no level select. Giving that achievement a pass.

Cute game, but the clearing algorithm of the mine field is bad. There are way too many cases in which the player needs to guess where the mine is instead of relying on a logical clue. Would be cool to see if the devs fix this.

War Mines: WW2 is at the same time a very simple game and a visual delight! This is the first time that I really understood how to play minesweeper and actually liked it, after ignoring the classic version of the game for my entire life. And this interest is certainly due to the historical second war context that the game presents us through beautiful art, especially for this price range.

I'll relunctantly give it a positive review : it's a well done game, a nice change of setting for a minesweeper, it can be considered educative too. But I finished it on my 1st (and only) playthrough, all achievements included, in 29 minutes (without skipping the short cutscenes before each level). My personal threshold for the value of a game being 1€ for 1 hour of gameplay, it means that this game should not cost more than 0.5€. Of course, this is a personal point of view, do of it what you want :P Also, the game being still tagged as "profile features limited" at this point (end of july 2021), the achievements and the perfect game status won't be accounted for on your profile.

Editing of Original Review: It appears that all of my issues with the game have been addressed. Now it's a decent minesweeper game. Original Review: While the game is cheap and I would give it a neutral score if that was an option, the game is highly luck dependent due to bad level design. Most of the minesweeper levels are narrow 4x12 rectangles which means that you end up having to make multiple 50/50 guesses each level. Victory does not depend on logic but on getting lucky 3 or more times in a row. Minesweeper works better with larger square levels because you can actually use logical reasoning to find safe tiles. It has a hint option, but this disqualifies you for achievements. This leaves lucky guessing as your route to victory. The order of the campaign is also odd. You go from 1944 D-day to 1942 Stalingrad. The text in the game states after the D-Day mission that now attention is drawn to the fight in Stalingrad, which doesn't make any chronological sense. The end focuses ...

Simple and enjoyable (yet giving brain hypertrophy haha), with nice minimalist 3D graphics, cool cinematics between the levels put you in the WW2 context. Nice approach for a minesweeper!

Very good game, amazing paced tutorials. The environment makes you immerse, amazing! Music, sound effects, image effects, user interface and the game itself all well designed. Congrats to the developers!

Very fun take on an old-school game! I do feel like some of the puzzles I got were a bit more luck, and the angles of some of the levels were definitely messing with me. BUT, I did enjoy the game, especially for the price. Lots of fun.
