Pros: - Vividly written characters - Dice system that has an element of chance but doesn't incentivize savescumming - Gorgeous art style - Impactful choices. Cons: - The game is organized such that its flaws are so drastically overshadowed by its strengths that they aren't really noticeable. One of my favorite games ever, and especially great if you are balancing school or a job. If you don't have a lot of time to spend gaming, this is a fantastic way to spend that time.

About This Game
One of 2022’s most acclaimed indies, the Game Awards-nominated Citizen Sleeper is a Tabletop-inspired narrative RPG set on Erlin’s Eye, a ruined space station that is home to thousands of people trying to survive on the edges of an interstellar capitalist society.
You are a sleeper, a digitised human consciousness in an artificial body, owned by a corporation that wants you back. Thrust amongst the unfamiliar and colourful inhabitants of the Eye, you need to build friendships, earn your keep, and navigate the factions of this strange metropolis, if you hope to survive to see the next cycle.
Inspired by Tabletop Roleplaying games, Citizen Sleeper uses Dice, Clocks and Drives to create a player-led experience, where you choose your path in a rich and responsive world. Each cycle you use the dice you are dealt to choose what to do with your time. Make or break alliances, uncover truths and escape your hunters. Survive and ultimately thrive, one cycle at a time, and sometimes against the clock!
The station plays host to characters from all walks of life, trying to eke out an existence among the stars. Salvagers, engineers, hackers, bartenders, street-food vendors, each has a history which brought them here. You choose which of them you wish to help, and together you will shape your future.
Eventually, you will learn to use your dice to hack into the station’s cloud to access decades of digital data, uncover new areas and unlock secrets. This is your unique power, and with it you can change your future. Corporate secrets, rogue AIs and troves of lost data await those willing to dive into the depths of the station’s networks.
Essen-Arp: to them you are just property, one more asset in a portfolio that stretches across the stars. You are the product of an abusive system, in a universe where humanity’s expansion is marked by exploitation and extraction. Escape the makers of your decaying body, and chart your own path in a richly imagined, deeply relevant sci-fi world which explores ideas of precarity, personhood and freedom.
Citizen Sleeper uses Dice, Clocks and Drives to create a player-led experience, where you choose your path in a rich and responsive world.

Each cycle you roll your dice. Assign them to vast range of actions available on the station. With every action, choose what, and who, matters to you, shaping the lives of those around you, and ultimately the future of the station.

Clocks track both your actions and the actions of others across the station. From becoming a local at the Overlook Bar to protecting a friend from Yatagan enforcers, clocks allow you to track your own progress and the influence you have on the world around you.

Follow drives not quests, allowing you to pick and choose the stories and activities that matter to you. As you do, you will shape your character's five skills (Engineer, Interface, Endure, Intuit and Engage), unlocking perks and bonuses that reflect and change how you choose to live in this world.
Citizen Sleeper now includes all three post-launch DLC episodes FLUX, REFUGE and PURGE, which expand the game and introduce additional characters and locations to Erlin’s Eye in an exciting new late game storyline.

User Reviews
I knew almost nothing about the game when I bought it. I like sci-fi, role-playing, and dice, so Citizen Sleeper made a good impression on me. I didn't expect to be plunged into such a deep sense of loneliness, with so many unanswered questions about identity and belonging. A surprisingly intense experience that I'll remember for a long time.
It was great. I remember most of the characters all the way to the end. It doesn’t blow me out of the water like Disco Elysium does, since its complications are relatively flat, but it still stuck with me all the same.
The game is unbelievably good, its message is profound and becoming more and more relevant every day, it has a lot to say and the way it relays the message not just with its mountains of dialogue, but also in its own mechanics is very admirable. Time is your main currency, you are stuck in an endless cycle of expending yourself in order to keep yourself alive, every effort you make to survive another day breaks you down a little more until you can barely do two things a day, this painful cycle is incredibly well made and how much it resonates with you will be the decider on whether you will enjoy this game or not, it's not a game that will challenge reflexes, or provide action, it's a contemplative exercise with a lot of reading and a lot of pondering.
This game is beautifully written and has a lot of hidden corners that required multiple playthroughs to unlock (I did one as each of the three starting archetypes). The dice system feels fantastic because it adds randomness to all of your days, but gives you full information at the start of the day that allows you to plan carefully around poor rolls. The narrative and mechanics all help to engender the feeling of scarcity and forcing you to make tough choices. While the visuals and soundtrack wrap you up in the unique vibe of the space station. Overall I would highly recommend, and I am excited to play the sequel which is sat in my library now.
This game is a testament to what a small team can do. The story is haunting. The writing is very very good. The choices actually matter. The art design and music are right on point. Worth. Every. Penny.
relaxing story and nice mechanics.
A well-written, heavy text-based tabletop cRPG with a superb cast of characters, rich sci-fi world-building, and a unique dice system. The story captivated me, and while I was trying to survive each cycle in The Eye, I was left enthralled by its tranquil music and atmosphere. I recommend it a lot.
On one hand, a cool narrative management game with an interesting premise. On the other hand, here we have yet another game that's entire gameplay premise relies purely on RNG, with the negative RNG coming in clutch exactly when you don't need it to. If you can't out-plan the bad rolls, the game sucks and that's all there is to it. Also, you have to play as a dirty clanker.
Citizen Sleeper is a well-polished adventure game that tries to transform a narrative VN-style into something more replayable. It nearly delivers. Unfortunately, the improvements made to extend the game with strategy and luck just aren't that interesting and result in the loss of saved game backtracking. The game assets and story are fine, but the mechanics are a little weak.
