There's nothing like playing a string of poorly made games to make you appreciate the fine art and science of elegant game design. C.T. Matthews is a master. This game perfectly achieves what it set out to do, with everything you could want from the simple premise, and no additional filler. I'm always scouring Steam and trying out new chess-themed games. 90% of them are trash. 5% are mediocre. This one is exceptional. I love chess, but bomberman-style games are a genre I have never had the slightest interest in, even after briefly playing some classic examples. This is probably the only such game I will ever spend time with, and that's a testament to its exceptional execution and transcendence of the genre.
