About the Game

An atmospheric vehicle adventure that follows the emotional journey of a boy and his ship as he embarks on a voyage to find a new home. Sail stormy waters, dive unknown depths, and explore forgotten ruins in a beautifully realised, flooded world.

AN ALL-NEW COMPANION TITLE

Expanding on the desolate setting seen in FAR: Lone Sails, Changing Tides swaps sun scorched, dusty plains for stormy skies and high seas. With new environments, puzzles and ship mechanics, the world of FAR: Changing Tides brings an exciting experience to fans of this beloved series and new players alike with a bigger, deeper challenge.

A NEW HOME

Overcome the elements as new protagonist, Toe, who awakens to find themselves alone, stranded in a flooded world. What once was home is transformed into an unfamiliar and sometimes hostile environment. You must navigate Toe on an adventure to traverse the ruins of a once great society in search of a new beginning.

CAPTAIN YOUR SHIP

Experience the thrill of captaining a distinctive seafaring vessel. Together you’ll brave high seas, navigate intense storms, and plumb the perils of a briny deep. Along the way, you’ll need to keep things functioning by unlocking parts, fixing faults and searching the watery depths for precious fuel and salvage. The farther you travel, the more you’ll learn about your ship’s fascinating complexities.

A MEDITATIVE EXPERIENCE

FAR: Changing Tides’ moments of peril and intrigue are delivered by environmental dangers and puzzles to overcome, but these feed into the solitary, almost meditative approach to gameplay. Captaining your extraordinary ship, raise the mast, hoist and angle the sails, light the furnace and more as you learn to sail the ocean while mourning the loss of your home.

SOUNDS OF THE OCEAN

A dynamic soundtrack reacts to player and environmental actions, amplifying key moments in the game and heightening the atmosphere, meaning pulse pounding crescendos, serene moments of reflection and everything in between are created by, rather than scripted for, the player.

A more than worthy sequel. If you played the first one, this one will feel so good. If you haven't played the first one, play that one first to double the fun.

I absolutely loved the first game, so I was disappointed when I had a hard time with this one. The biggest issue I had was in seeing, like I lost sight of the character a lot which was frustrating. The first game was really clear, and that's part of what I loved about the style. The environment was grey and the character was red so it was easy to keep track of them, while in this one everything was muted color. The visual clarity was lost in its transition to 3D rendering, which is too bad. The story was good though.

I was finally able to play this. A worthy successor to FAR: Lone Sails. This game had very big shoes to fill, and it delivered. I loved the artistic design and the story. The gameplay is similar enough to Lone Sails as to feel similar and make you feel at home, yet, it is different enough to be its own thing. The game, as with Lone Sails, has its moments that can leave an impact on your hearth. Not the same kind (like the feeling of sadness that filled me when the vehicle was cut in half), but different ones (spoiler alert: A frozen corpse). The experience was amazing, deep and quite entertaining. I can recommend this game anytime.

A 2d platformer where you manage a ship towards your destination. A sequel to FAR: Lone Sails, this time the vessel is larger, can do more and has a few more things to manage. I'm not entirely sure that was a good thing. It took a bit under 5 hours to complete. + Nice use of environmental storytelling, though less so than Lone Sails. + Simple controls (movement + 2 buttons), that work well and feel consistent. + Again improving your ship during your journey. + Nice visual design and very good music. - Some of the legs of the journey take quite long. - Like Lone Sails, not worth doing all the achievements, I feel. - About twice as long, but doesn't tell twice the story. - Ties the endings together in an interesting way. A gentle recommend on a discount, but not full price. That said, I'm glad the developers are making their own things.

It's a beautiful game like the first one but it's very easy in regards to its puzzles. I was able to complete it twice in under 10 hours. The ship feels a lot more interesting this time around and your moment to moment decisions carry more weight. Get it on sale for sure.
