Yeaaahhh I had to give this game a thumbs down. But first, look. The graphics look great, the sound effects and the music sound good too. But EVERYTHING ELSE about this game is pretty bad. The voice acting is cringe level 9000 The storline is bland and unoriginal. The gameplay is too repetetive and boring. The camera control is super bad and confusing its an active detriment to your gameplay. And for 25 dollars the game just isn't worth all those negatives just cuz it looks real pretty. I'd pass on this one and look for something else. But if that curiosity and that drive to check it out for yourself is still there then maybe check out the video on my youtube channel (link below). It has actual gameplay, examples of the bad camera and the bad voice acting and you'll get a good look at what you'd be jumping into. If not then I at least hope I was able to help you spend your money wisely. Thanks for reading. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOKhtnB-HtM

About the Game
Blackwind is a top-down sci-fi action game that puts you in the shoes of a teenager trapped inside a prototype battle armor suit during an alien invasion. Face off against enemies, cut through their ranks, and fight back in a last-ditch attempt to stop a planetary invasion. When the starship Pandora is shot down, James Hawkins finds himself trapped inside a military prototype Battle Frame armor as he hurtles towards Medusa-42. As the Raknos hordes ravage the planet and leave every human mining colony in ruins, James doesn’t have long to discover how to operate the Battle Frame if he wants to survive his dangerous surroundings and find his missing father.
But James isn’t alone on his quest – an unexpected ally hides inside his Battle Frame…
- Choose your playstyle: Engage in melee combat, shoot at will, launch missiles at enemies, or use special Battle Suit powers to survive showdowns.
- Fiercely terminate your opponents with brutal moves.
- Evolve your Battle Frame with new powers and expand your skill tree.
- Use the Battle Frame Drone to expand your fighting and exploring capabilities in the single-player campaign.
- Local Coop Mode: the Battle Frame and its Drone can be controlled by two players.

The voice acting might be terrible but I can live with that the camera though... my god... Can I please see? Please?
I love shooters like this, but the combination of weird camera, wonky jumping and falling off pipes all the time and time trials made me just rage quit after a few tries. Don't mind if it's hard, but not because of clunky controls. I hope that gets fixed, I may revisit it.
Wait a bit on this one. It looks great, and combat is pretty nice but the camera is just awful. The dialogue isn't great either, but if I was like 12, and was thrown into a mech and informed to survive, I'd probably be just as, if not more annoying. Camera isn't forgivable, however.
Where to start with this one. Drakkar Dev is a small studio of around 5-ish people based in Italy. Blackwind is their 8th completed game. The majority of their catalogue is mobile games so it's nice to see them get more ambitious and branch out onto the PC market. If you take a look at some of their previous work you can easily see the improvements they've made as a studio. -This game has some very bad English voice acting. So bad that they should never have added them and just had text boxes instead. -Melee combat feels terrible. Every time you swing your blade you also travel forward some distance, making it very difficult to hit anything directly in front of you or to chain any meaningful combos. Very bad. -The camera is by far the worst part of this game. It's always at an inconvenient angle and just when you think you're finally getting a good view, it will change to become inconvenient for you. -Level design is very linear but made super annoying to explore thanks to that aw...
I was excited to get my hands on this game after seeing the trailer. I'm all for hack and slashers and dont mind the lower budget feeling at all, yet the sound effects in this game are a major turn off. I feel bad too cause its an indie studio, but man the sound design is just poor, especially when executing enemies. When you impale an enemy with its own limb you expect a gory splash, but instead the sound feedback is closer to squishing yogurt out of a cup. Seeing how executions are a central combat feature its a big issue. I like to think I have a high jank tolerance when it comes to games, doubly so for indies, but this is the first time a game's audio turned me off even wanting to play. Normally I wouldnt ask for a refund, even if I dont a like game, but this year has so many hits and I only have so much money. I took a chance on this game and it unfortunately let me down.
Voice acting (and this is where I quit): I can't. I literally can't. The voice acting is absolute cringe. Give me an option to mute the damn kid. It ruins everything. "WoOoAaAhH, tHaT's sO cOoL!!!!!!11!1". I have no idea how different people playtest this game and are like "Yep. This kid commenting LITERALLY EVERYTHING is fine." Everything else is pretty good, mech sounds mechy, monsters sound like monsters, music is pretty good. Gameplay: Upgrading system is a mess in itself. You have a "Skill tree" with different areas, namely "General", "Combat" and "Special". Barely any customisability in there, only a couple nodes to spend points on. Your Dash ability is in two of them. Once in General for more distance or something and once in Combat for damaging enemies. Just put both things into one area instead of artificially blowing up your lame skill tree. You also have a melee attack with left click for light attacks and MIDDLE MOUSE BUTTON (WHAT THE ACTUAL FRICK) for heavy attacks. Who...
I just finished it, the camera issues are fixed and the game is fun. I had a lot of fun. Thank you for making it. I woudl suggest a bit of variations in the finishing kills animations otherwise it was a lot of fun thanks.
Great game !! Forget the negative reviews, the fact that the game on day one has some bugs (already solved) is normal. It happens to AAA games with nasty bugs and they charge you triple for it. I'm sure in the course that the developers will do everything to fix them, as they did with the latest update. So rest assured and play it which is an excellent game.
I have not played much yet but from what I have seen from playing the game myself &, watching people play it on twitch. The game does have its flaws however. Voice acting is on par with the original RESIDENT EVIL on playstation 1. Yes it is that bad, and its not so bad its funny it is so bad that you wish you could turn off the voicees. The game plays nice and is responsive which is one of the most important things of a game. I'd say wait for the game to go on sale and buy it, or buy it when it is at full price ( to throw a bone to the DEVS after all ) Set the timer on your phone for 1 hour or 1 hour and 30 min. If by the time the timer goes off and you are not having fun and are regretting the buy REFUND it. This game has horrible reviews BUT they are complaining about the voice acting and wishing the camera was a bit further away from main guy. That is not enough reason to negatively review the game. all in all i say BUY the game set a timer and make your own decision based on your...
