About This Game

Endure an authentic survival experience unlike any other in The Last Plague: Blight. Carefully tend to your well-being, brave countless threats, and overcome daunting challenges within a disease-ridden procedurally generated open world. Delve into the heart of the Blight and bring it to an end.

An obscure disease known as the Blight has descended upon the land. Barely escaping its devastating effects, you find yourself exhausted, starved, and alone in the wilderness. But when an enigmatic figure emerges from the dark, a glimmer of hope presents itself off in the horizon. Are you willing to risk your life to see the Blight eradicated, or will you allow the disease to consume you?

Withstand a perilous open-world that strives on punishing realism, immersion, and depth. Whether you're cooking, crafting, or gathering materials, every single task eats up precious time. Water needs to be boiled to ensure its safe to drink, and raw materials require the proper treatment before creating the tools necessary for survival. Hunger, hydration, and energy must be consistently kept in check while resting at camp or exploring the wilds. Never let your guard down, as dangers take many forms. Wild beasts and harsh elements persistently threaten your well-being, so do what you must to survive a procedurally generated world that does not want you in it.

Key Features:

  • Authentic survival experience rooted in realism and immersion

  • Procedurally generated open world and inhabitants

  • Co-op multiplayer

For all the things this game does incredibly well, from all the multitude of various plants you can grow, the things you can craft, etc, one thing makes it a no-go recommendation for me: the combat mechanics. Throwing a spear is a exercise in guesstimation, never knowing exactly where it will go when you release it. Sure, there are crosshairs, but unless you're close enough for the animal to detect your attack and then attack YOU (which is sorta the purpose to throw junk at them, so they won't immediately attack, you know?) the spear is WILDLY inaccurate. And I mean wildly, by like yards/meters above, below, in front of or behind your target. And let's not talk about the typical ranged weapon you'll find in most survival games: the bow. The game has been out for almost a year in EA and there is STILL no bow you can craft in the game. It's not surprising since the spear throwing physics are so bad (or at least the aiming part is) that we don't have a bow yet in the game. Maybe s...

Survival games are my favorite, The Long Dark, The Infected are two of my favorites. I played the demo and really enjoyed it but I regret buying this game. So many loose ends. The outcome has you dying from failure. You will not be rewarded. Frustrating because it could be great and maybe some day it will but this early access slow walk nonsense has to end. I'm starting a new movement called Finish The Damn Game.

So the bare bones of this game are FANTASTIC. It has the potential to be a huge hit with an obsessive following. I'm about 150 hours into the game, roughly Day 85. I've enjoyed it immensely, and find it a perfect escapism game. I have issue with some of the gameplay balance. When you start the game, there are some regions of blight and maybe a tiny bit of contamination, but with every day that passes, the contamination increases roughly 1 percent. The blight regions are expanding way faster than I can remove them; I have no idea from the game or from other players if this will eventually halt, or if I'm doomed. In late game, extreme contamination of all food other than my farmed mushrooms mandates tedious and finicky farming to the point that I'm spending literally half the game placing, watering, harvesting, storing and processing mushrooms one by one. If the game wants to force me to lose time in the day to farming as a trade-off for uncontaminated food, so be it, but there...

I know this game is supposed to be realistic, but if you need 4 paragraphs of explanation per quest telling the player how to do something, I think it's a sign the system in question is a little too complicated. Then again, maybe I'm just not the audience for this game.

This is a very good start to a game and, as an early access, is pretty stable and enjoyable. It has extremely pleasant woods to walk through and build out a homestead -- all while fending off hostile wildlife and the infection of the blight. While it is targeted at having more quest lines and content, it currently is a great survival game with solo and coop modes. Chopping down trees in the laid back woodland atmosphere it is easy to neglect all those other chores you need to do to keep yourself safe, fed, hydrated, rested, dry, warm, dressed, armed, equipped all without falling victim to blighted food or storms. The current quest line feels more like a placeholder for more good things to come and if you play that to its current completion and stop, you are going to miss out on the joy in this game. The dynamic map for each game, means you cannot play the same map twice and no one else can tell you where anything might be. The in-game map only covers the main quest area, bu...

i think in order for someone to have fun with this that they would need to find the level of micro management, slow pace, detailed item composition, ... that this game requires... fun. if that was the case then i would say this is a relatively fun, bug free experience. --- it's just not for me ---. i would mark this as a neutral review however steam doesn't allow that.

Very nice graphics, animations, basic mechanics and overall atmosphere. This game shows a lot of promise. HOWEVER... Way, WAY too many steps and complicated fiddle-farting about when it comes to crafting and construction. The tutorial tasks clearly list you what you NEED to do, but are sadly unclear about HOW to accomplish them.

The building system is one of the weakest parts of the game. Posts and beams rarely snap together as they should, pieces constantly report collisions with “invisible” obstacles, and even flat ground feels hostile to construction. What should be a creative, satisfying part of survival instead turns into tedious trial and error. Instead of feeling rewarding, the process is clunky and frustrating, with more time spent fighting the system than actually building a shelter.

Even for an unfinished game I've gotten my money's worth. A lot of fun.
