About This Game

Each location is a new challenge.

Explore, listen, react… or die.

A visual compass, immersive ambient sound, and original music guide you through the dark monastery halls.

Gravure-style hand-drawn images briefly pierce the darkness.

Put on your headphones.

Sound is your only way forward.

Voice acting channels late-20th-century B-movie vibes to set the tone.

You’ll start with a short tutorial — then, you’re on your own.

15 achievements to unlock.

Challenging by design. Satisfying by intent.

Inspired by the tough classics of the ‘80s and ‘90s.

We won’t reveal too much, but here’s what awaits you in the first few locations…

Location 1 – Run. Or die.

Location 2 – Just reach the door at the end. Simple? Maybe.

Location 3 – Talk… but know this: one person here might still be breathing.

Location 4 – Trust the cat, not the human. Or — yeah, die.

Location 5 – Accept the teleport. Or… well, don’t.

Location 6 – The way out is hard to find. Dying? Not so much.

Most won’t reach the end.

But if you do, the finale may surprise you — and remind you that life is worth living, even if it takes twenty deaths to prove it.

Still curious? Time to begin.

For me this game was challenging but not impossible. In contrast to many recent games that give you a quest marker, which you will, most likely, blindly follow without any thought, Rosemary's Fate requires you to use spacial awareness and sound cues to find your way around the environment. There were some times that required me to burst out the pen and paper and jot down some of the trickier level layouts, but once you realise how the game works you will have an easier time going though it and enjoying the story. Compared to some let's plays, I ended my playthough fairly quickly, but I have to say it required lots of thinking on my behalf, and was a fairly challenging exercise in spacial thinking. The only negative I can think of, outside of the character's accents (Which I got over fairly quickly) is that you can see the fairly experimental nature of this game. It is one of the first games of it's kind and still has a long way to go before being a fully fledged video game genre. Still...

An audiogame that seems to be aiming at a different genre, which makes a refreshing change. Some of the accents are a little strong and it is not always clear what you need to do to progress things. From what I can make out the game is still not a hundred percent complete, so it may be worth checking out the demo first. The ambient sounds are good and I did manage to progress through at a reasonable pace. I would still recommend this to support the Devs , it's always good to see new audiogames appearing on Steam. Support the Devs give this one a whirl, it's decent game despite a few rough endges. Use keyboard the controller support is a little clunky.

I bought out of curiosity how to play audio games. Surprised. First, the atmosphere of the game. I did not expect that you can achieve so much with sounds. I even forgive the creators for the voice actors. They could be better, but the other sounds and music are really good. Second, the story. At the beginning, mysterious voices, teleport and the like. But then the story gets less and less obvious. I can already see several possible endings to this adventure. But I'm not sure about any of them. And for that a big plus for the creators.
