Not as much time travel as I'd like, but still good. Over the course of the game, the time travel mechanics get used less and less (they're entirely absent in chapters 5 and 6, and there's only a token of them in chapter 7). Up to chapter 4, it's an absolute blast. Past that point, it's still decent, although chapter 7 needs patience more than anything else. Overall... Gameplay (first half): 8/10 Gameplay (second half): 6/10 Story: 9/10, I liked the aesthetic and the characters. Not perfect, but what is? Music: 6/10. It's serviceable, but it won't be your favorite or anything. Despite the sketchy second half, I'll still recommend this game. I do kinda hope that the devs stick to their concept a bit better on their next game though.

The concept of this game is great! The demo does an excellent job at showcasing that. However, the actual content of the game is lacking. But first, let's talk about the elephant in the room: the soft-locking, save-file bugs. When you load up the chapters in the middle, some bits of the gameplay directly conflict with each other, making it impossible to proceed. Sometimes you can work up the patience to replay the whole chapter. Other times, unfortunately, you're out of luck. So why not just play a chapter in 1 sitting? Well, now let's talk about where the content falls short: the pacing of the gameplay (which is surprising, because the story arcs cut to the chase immediately). The length of the beginning few chapters are a nice, short 30 minutes of playtime. Easy to get through; minimal backtracking. Then come the later chapters. They can take up to 2 hours, and most of the most part, the gameplay involves backtracking. Then some of the dialog sequences carry on forever, making th...

ENG: What a sadness to finish this game, is one of those that you don't want it to end, the story lasts between 7 and 8 hours, which is great, a masterpiece in my opinion, the gameplay of the puzzles fits perfectly with the narrative, and the sound is exquisite, I highly recommend it, 10/10 I would erase my memory to enjoy it again.

Truly a marvelous work, one that stays with you for a long time. The visual style, the narrative, the characters, the music, the whole game is a collection of incredibly well done and lovingly crafted parts. The memory shaping mechanic itself is handled in a unique and interesting way, with variety in the gameplay that makes it not monotonous. Again, the characters are fantastic, each one recognizable, with unique personalities, narrative arcs, very well handled interactions, I'd say that's what stands out the most about this game. What I can't say, sadly, is that it's a masterpiece, since among the variety of gameplays that one finds, the truth is that several of these changes are not very entertaining, either because they are very simple, burdensome to require going around the same places just for the sake of it, or boring because of how long they get to be. It is much better to play it without knowing much, it has unexpected twists and surprises at a very good pace, I really reco...

The power of retconning the story is great and definitely the driving factor of why I've bought this game. Then, got into the story and liked it. Unfortunately, I was sad that the later chapters removed this retcon aspect and focus on stealth, simple switch puzzle solving and a very tedious game mechanic near the end. Yet, overall, I'd say that the story and game mechanics from the 4 first chapters were enough to carry the rest and made me recommend this game.

Interesting and unique story-driven mystery game about manipulating the past to affect the present. The characters and their interactions are compelling and the puzzles and mysteries are fun to untangle. Due to how the gameplay revolves around rewriting timelines to correct mistakes it is inherently very trial-and-error-based, but because individual choices and dead ends often reveal puzzle pieces and character information you hardly ever notice and it never becomes frustrating. I enjoyed my time with the game all the way through its seven chapters + ending, but it should be said that it starts off *much* stronger than it ends. Chapters 1, 2 and to a lesser extent 3 and 4 are brilliant, but around the halfway point the gameplay becomes noticeably more linear and some late-introduced plot elements feel like they add much complexity for little payoff and make the story feel slightly unfocused. The dialogue also has occasional glaring grammar and spelling mistakes (at the time of writing...

I've been waiting for the game to come out ever since I've played the demo and I'm so amazed. The characters are interesting and have depth. The puzzles are intriguing, not too hard to be frustrating but challenging enough to keep you thinking. The art looks nice and well-made. I like the story the most, I can't really explain without mentioning spoilers but it is fascinating how everything is connect together. I wish it could be a little longer but I'm satisfied with the game. Overall, this game has an interesting idea and the developers made it excellent. 10/10

Well. This is one of those games that makes me wish for a "neutral" recommended option on steam. RE:CALL is not a bad game, far from it, but... It's not quite a "good" game either. The concept is great! Well. Starts great. The first half of the game handles it fairly well, and explores it quite a bit. The second half, becomes a slog. The usage of the core mechanic, the namesake of the game, is barely even present in the second half of the game. They try exploring other ideas... but those wind up being shallow, and underdeveloped. Furthermore, the puzzle design combined with the gameplay design, leaves some things to be desired; the nature of the game is such that, well, you WILL be repeating some actions, quite a bit. And unfortunately, this takes time. Not much, mind you-- they at least had the foresight to speed it up, but... Repetition adds up. combined with the relatively slow movement speed of the characters... It all just served to make it feel more and more like a slog...
