Humanity is gone, all that remains is the tech they left behind. Learn from their mistakes, be generous and care about others! Transcend humanity with the gift of generosity! ^~^

Shell Out Showdown is part of what has retroactively been termed the "molasses jam" run by the Bay Area Dev Collective. The theme of the jam was to make a violent genre non-violent. I picked the last-person-standing battle-royale genre, as it tends to be dominated by violent games, and Shell Out Showdown eventually came to life!

User Reviews
Shell Out Showdown is a wonderfully engaging game that is also incredibly polished for still being in Early Access. Game play is smooth and enjoyable both with friends and solo against computer players. I love all the cosmetic options available in the shop and the overall art style of the game is top-notch. Highly recommend to any and all types of gamers!
This is a really a thrilling game, it's like a fast-paced hot potato except *everyone* starts out with hot potatoes! Very responsive controls, bright, beautiful pixelart, smooth groovy soundtrack, and when someone has completely unloaded there's a scramble for them to get away from the rest who are trying to pass him one. I'm impressed. Very excellent.
I love the aesthetic of this game, plays very smoothly and had a blast! Highly recommend for playing with friends.
Tons of fun! Was able to play with folks that came over within minutes. It was intuitive and got us jumping up and down right away. I haven't experienced any bugs, and it runs well. Early access probably because there's going to be more content. Definitely something I'll keep for parties, can't wait for more!
Gameplay is similar to a platform "fighting" game with the rather unique spin that you and your competitors are a bunch of vending machines trying to get rid of all your concessions. It's not the sort of mechanic I ever expected to see in a game like this but the execution ends up being a hilariously hectic good time. The controls are tight and movement mechanics are familiar. I'm especially a fan of the dash. The pixel art is cute and fun, and the music is top-tier. And you can even customize your character with effects and paint colors and "buddies."
This game is soo fun with 2 or more friends!!! Plenty of stuff to do in early access already. A lot of depth. Online mode works great as far as i can tell. I didn't see any lag. Worth the money! Don't forget to throw food up!
While the decision to make a game about trying to give all your items away may have started with the non-violent theme, it's actually a brilliant design decision. It makes each round exciting. It can end at pretty much anytime and as long as the round isn't over you feel like you still have a chance. But it's not like it feels random, all your actions feel still feel meaningful and skill is still definitely important. The art is great as well. I especially like the clever humor in some of the background: "Killer Flavor" billboard, "Indefinitely 17" store. And the metaprogression system to get cosmetics has been surprisingly compelling as well.
Early Access doesn't deserve this game. Its already super fun, well polished and full of content. The fact that there is even more to come should get potential players super excited. The gameplay is simple but super hectic and full of action and surprisingly deep, the platforming is solid and feels tight and responsive, any number of people can jump in at anytime and get a game going, either with their group or with bots added, so there's always enough players to play any map and have a good time with, and the little extras like the rotating shop with cosmetic customizations and the end of game stats are great. Anyone can play this and find something to love about it! Great for all ages and skill levels.
