Click the video above to see some of the gameplay, mechanic and hear my thoughts on the game. Anachronism is a text-based choose your own adventure nostalgia trip from my childhood. The best part of the game for me is the sounds. I am instantly transported back to my childhood listening to the computer boot up, load and start the program. Even the sound of keys being type and system sounds are 100% authentic of times past. A majority of players won't get this feeling having not grown up in the time of 386/486 computer or pre-windows era. The story is both interesting and mysterious. Your friend sends you this chat program and then you're exposed to who knows what... The only two issues that I have with the game are: having to hit a key for each letter that is being typed on the screen. I know that is immerse gameplay to make it feel like you ...

I don't quite know how I feel about this game. Being old enough to have grown up with the evolution of the internet, this game was some hecka nostalgia for me. The premise of the game is fascinating and the potential is there. However, I don't thinK i could really recommend this game in good faith. While the characters all have unique personalities, I think some more testing would have worked out the kinks. At one point the game even got stuck and I had to hit ESC and cancel before it moved on. The biggest for me was selecting dialogue options and what was typed was different than what I had chosen, resulting in a jump to a whole different topic that lost me.
Mia invited me to a 1:1 chat one of the days and gave me all this attitude about not listening to her and then left. It was completely confusing because we had nothing that led up to it. It was random and i'm sure had something to do with my lonely/sad ending?
I may go back to it someday and try again. It wa...
Enjoy the idea of this a lot but unfortunately pretty buggy. Ran into glitchy dialogue in Chapter 2 that ruined the experience for me (selecting a dialogue option but the response that was typed was completely different and seemed to be from another conversation altogether, derailing the story).
I really enjoyed the game but near the end I got blamed for something I have no idea what the game implies that i did, and then it ended. It's almost as if the game fast tracked to a segment further in the story completely missing what I was supposed to experience, completely destroying whatever enjoyment and immersion i had in this game. Extremely disappointing.
The game seems really slow, as in story pace. It also wouldn't let me close the game. I pressed 5 for escape, and it just faded to a black screen with white noise in the background, had to tab out and close it myself. I don't think I would recommend this to any *I* know, personally.
i downloaded this game for simple price of a dollar. After finishing a blind playthrough and receiving the "lonely/sad ending" at the end, I wanted to post a review to give people who haven't played the game an honest look into what they're getting into when investing their money, even if it's just a dollar. (And There's a fairly big note for the Devs toward the end) This game is very similar to a game series called: "Emily is Here" wherein you're logging onto an old computer to chat with random people about nothing. the only difference is one game imitates AOL voice messaging software, while the other imitates a message service built from scratch on a floppy disk, called a BBC. Both have incredible potential to be interesting and/or exciting, but both games fail to be either, unless melodrama and insecure characters talking about mundane bullshit is your idea of entertainment. It is a well-built game(There were light glitches, but they were not a large hindrance on the game's...
Detailed review: This is based on my own opinions. I will try not talk about the events and details of the story in my review. I think the less you know about it before you start, the more enjoyable it'll be! Context: 1. Value for money 2. Gameplay 3. Story 4. Graphics and Art 5. Nice-to-haves 6. Negatives 7. Recommendation to players (+18) 8. Summary 1. Value for money For the price I payed, I have definitely got my money worth from this game. I have 40+ hours and enjoyed most of the game. I personally think anything below $2 that provides 40+ hours of fun is worth it, for sure! 2. Gameplay This game is definitely unique to me, as i have not played anything like it before. Honestly i didn't think it would interest me as I usually go for RPGs or FPS games. The game itself doesn't require much to play, what I mean is for the most part you'll be pretendy typing, reading and often choosing your dialogue to steer the story. You can be very humble or very self centred! Which both effect...
Really liked the story!!!!!!!! Played it all the way through in one sitting cause it was really interesting. well done. didnt encounter the glitches others were mentioning-- only the bug that was on purpose / for the awards lol.. maybe they thought it wasnt intentional?
This is an interesting concept of a game. But I gotta say I found some bugs and it was kinda of a let down that it was so short. I kinda wanted to spend more time with the characters than the game let me. I would recomend the purchase since it's so cheap, and it has some interesting concepts that I would like to se developed further in future games.
