User Reviews
This game constantly crashes and the optimisation is very poor. 2 years old and the developers still haven't fixed the issues
The Callisto Protocol looks amazing and has a really cool, creepy story that pulls you in. But the combat gets old fast—it’s pretty repetitive and doesn’t really evolve much. The game definitely has potential, but it’s super short and ends on a cliffhanger, which is a bit of a letdown. It’s a solid experience, just not as deep or satisfying as it could’ve been.
I wish we had the option to mark things as mid, because it really is a mid game overall. The "Dead Space from Wish" or "Dead Space at home", honestly, just go play Dead Space Remake instead, you'll have a better time (re)playing that game instead of this one.
It's good but not great. It's beautiful but a bit shallowy gameplay wise like many games that are cinematographic experiences more than anything. Nonetheless, I had a good time overall with this one.
After some updates between launch and now, I found the game to be pretty enjoyable. I did find it frustrating at times, and it’s a tad on the short side with some minor performance hiccups but the genre kept me engaged overall and it was a refreshing and fun experience. I picked it up with a discount a while ago and would suggest buying it when on sale.
To start off I think there are good elements to this game, the environments and locations have great atmosphere and attention to detail, (most of) the voice acting is good, and the combat (while not perfect and could be exploitative at times) had interesting elements. However, these things are undermined by the fact that most of the gameplay is tedious and bloated with constant scripted sequences, qtes, and holding up though crawl spaces. Also, the story was overall kind of dull. It wasn't necessarily bad, though most of it felt very "been there, done that" with ideas and story beats taken from Resident Evil, Dead Space, and Silent Hill. "There's an outbreak headed by an evil corporation/cult, and the protagonist is an outsider but knows more than they let on." Very predictable down to the twist. Overall I'd give it a 6/10, but at the end of the day you'd most likely have a better time playing Dead Space instead of this wannabe version.
I've only played a couple of hours but I already had some quite dissappointing moments in the game. Basically the game feels that it only can be fun if you've already played it and know every corner and secret beforehand. Experiencing it first time is not pleasant. Bad level design. You can't backtrack and collect loot you were unable to take because you have a limited inventory. You have to know beforehand that there will be a shop soon to sell loot. You have to know beforehand where to go first because you will be locked out of loot and secrets if you accidentially chose the main story path through the level. It's not really evident which passages are optional. Enemies appear out of nowhere on script. You can't really see how many enemies you're fighting. Their number can increase midfight just because. GRP throw an enemy will collide and stop midflight even with smallest collision. Looks unnatural. You lose energy on bad throws and it doesn't feels right. Some enemy attacks ...
runs better and looks better than dead space remake. story and gameplay is engaging too
Digital Deluxe Edition for A $17.00, Yea the game is a 10 out of 10. A must play for any gamer! The life like custom characters are as real as it gets. I would say I am a hard core Dead Space player, would have loved a multiplayer version DLC. Bring back the Marker Lounge! Don't know why this game had such a toxic time on release, there seems to be a Dead Space curse. Sadly the The Striking Distance Studios development team have sadly dispersed making any more development of Callisto unlikely. Would have been amazing to have a multiplayer DLC, All the models are made, should not be that difficult. The EA team behind the Dead Space remake have been dispersed as well. All the difficult tech has all ready been made with the Unreal Engine, all the 3D Assets have been made for Dead Space and Callisto but all we get are crickets, no more DLCs or remakes. How much money do these company's expect to make? Callisto sold about 7 million copies, that's a huge effort. I think the real probl...
