About This Game

Admiral of Fleet: Carrier Battles in WW2 is a real-time, tactical naval warfare simulation game focusing on carrier battles in WW2. It features 20 scenarios covering the naval battles between carriers in the early stage of the war, from December 1941 to the end of 1942, before US mighty industry tipped the balance in her favor and finally overwhelmed Japanese resistance. You are posted as overall commander of the battles on either Allied or Japanese side, as you may choose, and tasked with various missions, such as protecting your islands, destroying enemy fleet, or securing enemy controlled territory.

Features:

  • You'll be able to manage the deck and hangar on each of the carriers under your command, and organize ship-borne reconnaissance, combat air patrol and air strikes against enemy ships and land targets.

  • You'll be able to command land-based aircraft, if available in the battle, to protect your islands, search enemy ships and launch air strikes against them.

  • You'll be able to command land units, if available in the battle, to land on enemy controlled territory, or the other way around, to thwart enemy amphibious assault.

  • You'll be able to deploy your fleet and adjust the composition of your carrier-borne air group in most of the battles.

  • Each battle map, covering an area of up to 3000km x 3000km, is built on satellite verified terrain data (mountains, hills, plain, river etc), land cover data (forest, grassland, desert etc.).

Whew boy, where to begin? This is a very rough design. By rough, I mean very amateur coding- something that seems to of been done by a hobbyist programmer and nothing professional at all. The tutorials don't help teach you a thing (maybe you have to read along in the PDF, not sure). The controls are wonky (Do I drag select? Do I right click? Why won't the task force move as one?). The graphics look like they are programmed in so you can't mod them (and they desperately need a mod). You right click on a plane and you get the option to "land troops" from it in the context menu. You can't alt-tab out or minimize. You go to the right where the menu is to zoom in/out or what have you and the map window scrolls along with you. When you launch, the carrier/task force appears to move "into the wind" but there is no wind indicator and you have to correct the course again once they've launched. Just so many little niggling issues with this design which (again), appears to be something w...

OK big Leaguers, this game is fun! Reminds me of the old Carrier Strike game. Easy to learn. Now that I have a few hours of play, I can quibble about minor annoyances, and will later, but the basic game-play is FUN. Send out your search planes, find the enemy task force before they find you, and sick your cap, dive bombers, and torpedo planes on them. Developers should play the steam game 'Fleet Command', a lot of great ideas can be had that would improve this game even more. Developers have already fixed most of my quibbles with game patch updates! Off to play another round...Toodleoos!

This is a game well worth supporting. Yes a few bugs, but oh boy...the potential! The devs are active in the forum and bug reporting and suggestions are constructive. Report for duty, Admiral!

Very early days (I've ready the manual and played around for a few minutes as I need UI scaling to actually be able to do much) but I like what I see from a tabletop wargaming perspective. Clearly needs some polish--but from the developer's responsiveness thus far I think that will come. So if you're looking for something to pick up, probably take a pass for now. Hardcore wargamers though should find this an interesting and fun way to burn an evening as development and tweaking continues.

I had got this game on the first day, and i felt that the controls were rather confusing, and that there wasn't a clear objective. This game on the other hand seems very unfinished, so i hope i see graphic updates that make this game a little more user friendly. I did however play this game on launch, so what i have seen is untapped potential. I would not recommend purchasing this game for now, but within time I believe that this game will become not only playable, but fun and entertaining! P.S.-I really like the art style

Hard to tell if the simulation is any good, as the game has a really bad interface. Overall it looks unfinished.
