The Rhem games are a milestone in the history of adventure gaming. By far my favorites of all myst-style adventures, and trust me, I played a LOT of them. Don't expect much of a story, but if you like puzzles embedded in an interesting environment you will love that game. The author has systemically analyzed how gamers approach puzzles and twisted them in a way that one has to come up with new ideas how to solve them (always totally fair and logical). Simply brilliant. One warning though: the games are not easy, so if you are new to this genre, play an easier game first to learn how these kind of games 'work'.

Rhem is the very rewarding game series, which does an unbelievable job stress-testing your puzzle-solving skills. Although sometimes you might find yourself completely lost in its 4 dimensions (the fourth is, literally, *the mind-bending* one), a reward for solving even the smallest puzzle will definitely skyrocket your self-esteem. Although Rhem being different from the Myst series, those two games have much in common. Don't hesitate to test your ability to think logically and out of the box.

I am a big fan of the Rhem series and this one was no exception. This game should not be taken on lightly though, I would recommend mainly to hardcore puzzle adventure game fans. I would class myself among them and still struggled with bits of this game. Patience and determination are required! The new SE area was very difficult but very rewarding once I figured it out. I am looking forward to Rhem 5 when these four great games get linked together - I only hope it's not too long to wait :)

Rhem is my all time favourite game series, and I am so glad that we finally have all four entries in Steam. Similar to other Rhem games, Rhem III SE houses some of the most innovative, multi-layered and rewarding string of challenges out there. If you like games that require insane levels of visual reasoning, pattern recognition and out-of-the-box thinking, you can't find a better games than Rhem series. Rhem III SE in particular, offers some optional challenges that even the most seasoned puzzle solver will have a hard time with. If you play Myst-like game for their puzzles, you will fall in love with these games.
TL;DR Go to puzzle area, think it was impossible, put game aside, tried again a few days later, put aside, resisted looking at walkthrough, tried once more, had 'eureka' moment, solved puzzle, repeat.
Rhem III, like the other Rhem games, is a game for visual puzzles and the occasional audio puzzle. There's no real dialog, just puzzles and pictograms (which might be a clue to another puzzle). Most of the fun is figuring out just what the puzzles are in the first place (are those paintings important to to something elsewhere in the complex?) The premise of each Rhem game is the same (so my reviews are very similar to those for the other Rhem games): You find yourself in a part of a strange and deserted complex and need to find a key item (which is a clue to figuring out the fate of a lost explorer before you). Each puzzle brings you a little bit closer to re-starting the systems in this strange, deserted complex and finding a way to get out. The Rhem series was released about 10...

crashes often. also I found the puzzles to be often nonsensical. the length of a bird call in a tree determines where the leafes have to be placed in a book? wtf Also for a game so old that it supports no higher resolution than 800x600, 10 bucks is a lot

I have always loved the RHEM games. They were one of the best game series of my childhood, and definitely formed a great influence on the types of puzzle games I love today. It's a pleasant change of pace from hyper action/mindless games nowadays. You definitely need to make sure to keep your eyes and ears wide open, go about it a slower pace, and keep a pen and notebook handy. Be ready to not know the answers to puzzles, to have to wait to unlock doors until you find a book that gives an in depth explanation as to how the puzzle or door lock works (it is called the Secret Library, after all!) This game is a little different from the other 3 games in the series, as it felt like this game had more, not red herrings per se, but the developer would give you several "clues" puzzle, and you needed to sort out which clues were required by the end of the game. This game also revolved around a lot more sound puzzles then the other games. It isn't a complaint, though - I really loved that det...

DO NOT BUY IF RUNNING WINDOWS 7 64-BIT! It will mess up your computer. This game was clearly not meant to be run on any computer whose native resolution is higher than 600x800.

Generally considered the best in the series. If you liked 1 and 2, you will like this one.
