About This Game

Supraland Six Inches Under is a First-Person-Metroidvania. That means, you're in a gated world and the more abilities you gather, the more parts of the world you can access.
- You don't need to have played other Supraland games before you play this
- The gameplay consists of roughly 55% exploration, 40% solving puzzles and 5% combat.
- The adventure will take between 8-20 hours.
- Has absolutely zero skilltrees
- Hundreds of gags
- 2 funny gags

Compared to the first Supraland game:
- Half of the player abilities are the same, the other half is new
- The puzzles are simpler in the main path; hard puzzles are mostly optional
- There is less combat and all enemy types are new
- Much more optional content, a lot of it only accessible after the credits
- Almost all music was tailor made for the game while the first Supraland was using inexpensive, licensed music
- The credits roll a few hours earlier than in the first game but there is much more significant endgame content

The story behind the game
"Six Inches Under" was a little sideproject that was established to introduce new dev team members to our tools and workflow. Essentially it's our preparation for the sequel to Supraland.
While David Münnich made the first Supraland game pretty much alone, he had a smaller role in this one. The core team for this one had 6 people.
Pretty much everyone on team built 1 or 2 regions of the game world and in that sense it is very experimental.

It was supposed to be a little DLC for Supraland , but it got a bit out of hand and got more and more ambitous. Instead of 3 months it took us 27 months to make this (Supraland 1 was in development for 16 months).
It can be considered "Supraland 1.5" because there are still a lot things from the first game, but at the same time it's a new world with a bunch of new mechanics.

Combat:
If you're a fan of the first Supraland you might be interested in the approach to combat in this new game. After having learned a lot of lessons, the core concept was changed a lot and can still be considered experimental. We will surely learn some more lessons from this one for the next game.
The enemies are now much more separated from puzzles and won't get in your way there. The all new enemy types behave much more different from each other and there is no more one-fits-all solution to them. Hope you like it!

No longer runs on steamdeck. I played this awhile ago, all the way through on my steamdeck, and it worked fine. That is no longer the case. It will not launch past the title screen. It should be fixed. If its not going to be, it should be unverified.

this game is quite different in pace from first one, however if you liked first, you'd like this the main difference probably is that the finale of the game is about 35-40% of completion, and there's a lot to do after you watched the credits, i initially was disappointed that game has ended in like 4 hours of gameplay, but that's actually not bad

Compared to Supraland, the exploration is somewhat restrained, because to leave a region, you have to use the ability rewarded by completing the region's main goal. This means you can't buy upgrades anytime you want even if you have the money, which leaves you fighting the final boss with a 3 damage taser. Overall, the fun part is just like in Supraland, but the game itself is more unstable. Personally I've experienced 3 different kinds of crash. At first it crashed before main menu, because the default D12 version is actually unplayable. Then it crashed twice during final boss fight, both happened when I shot at the cluster of bombs. Finally in a endgame arena fight, it just froze and I had to resolve to task manager, so technically it wasn't a crash.
WONDERFUL continuation of Supraland and Supraland Crash.

Just like the earlier entries in the series, Feels like 85% Portal 2, 15% Metroid Prime

Pros:

About 20-40 hours of very puzzle-heavy metroidvania exploration and gameplay, depending on your skill level. With how little the combat plays into the game, and how puzzle heavy it is, it's MUCH closer to portal 2 than any other metroidvania i've played though.
Great Controls. I made sure to bind the key to my box generator and magnetic tools to my mouse to make using them easier.
It had helpful dialogue boxes for a ton of the puzzles letting you know whether you had collected all of the tools necessary to complete the puzzle or not. BUT (see below)
Delightful aesthetic, and amusing story and characters.

Cons (all of these are MINOR quibbles):

Unfortunately, There were some sections WITHOUT the dialogue boxes telling you whether you had the tools ...

Great sequel to the previous game, the puzzles in this game were in my opinion a lot more doable than the previous game in that none of them felt like a stretch to do.

After getting 100% on the first game, I figured I would give this game a try. I was not upset with this game. Took me about 20 hours to 100% and the only complaint I have is that it seemed like it could have just been DLC. The story didn't feel as well thought out as the first one, but the use of the pun to describe the situation was solid. I would rate the game 8/10 with a 3/10 re-playability. Supra glad I found these 3 games and I hope there is more to come.

Didn't finish the game yet, but this here is one of the better games out there, period. It's a little janky in places, but overall, Supraland has some of the best mechanics and puzzles out there. And it's absolutely enormous for what's basically considered an extension of the first game. Good stuff, looking forward to their open world game.
