I reinstalled the game so I could try get the BF6 rewards. Playing this at launch wasn't great but I ended up thinking it was just an average game, wasn't that great. Playing this now after playing the BF6 beta just makes it so much worse. Can't even push myself through it to get the BF6 rewards, it plays so awful compared to BF6. Nice try for trying to make me play this though

While 2042 hasn’t been a fan favorite by a long shot, it’s actually made its way into my top 4 Battlefields. The game had an extremely rough launch. Performance was shaky, audio felt off, and the lack of voice chat rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. Another big sticking point was the class system. The rework in this title made a lot of longtime fans feel like the classic class system was botched, which didn’t help its reputation at launch. Because of that, tons of players jumped ship early on. After taking a look at the reviews, I’ve also noticed a lot of people bombing it now because of having to enable Secure Boot as if their favorite "competitive fps" games don’t already require that to be enabled. Even the new Battlefield 6 beta has the same requirement and somehow received far less backlash, so keep that in mind while checking out other reviews. In its current state though, it’s a completely different experience. The maps feel way larger than any other Battlefiel...
Launch Review
Do not buy Battlefield 2042 DICE\EA know how to make a “Battlefield” game. DICE\EA made trailers that promoted this game. > DICE\EA inserted all the “only in Battlefield” moments in to the Trailer DICE\EA knew that this game is missing all of the below features. DICE\EA still released this. A lot of the missing features come from a reddit post, I added a list of my "Broken" experiences. I only wanted to use this list to prove my opening statement. Battlefield 2042 subreddit and Jellyswim_ No offense was intended, I just wanted to leave my review this morning on the cut content and what a poor "Battlefield" this was. Missing Core Features > No standard server browser > Fewer standardized game modes > Fewer base game maps than any other title (even including portal the map count is only 13) > No persistent lobbies You have to matchmake after EVERY round > Fewer in-game assignments None outside of cosmetic unlocks > Less character customization options...

After playing the BF6 beta and then picking this up on a 95% discount, it becomes clear how extremely bad this game is in comparison. I kinda want my €3 back.

Personally, this game was good during the beta back in 2021, as well as the first few years. 2024 and 2025 were rough. Especially with the cheaters running around and pissing everybody off. Do I think this game is fun? Absolutely. Do I think this is traditional BF like the open beta for BF6? Absolutely not. But you can run and gun like COD but without the SBMM or Ai generated crap. A lot of games btw have secure boot in them such as Helldivers 2, Ready or Not, Ghost Recon, etc. I do not see people complaining. It's more of the cheaters who abuse the ds windows system to play around with aimbot scripts and wallhacks who are very mad that they can't pretend to be "good" at a video game anymore. If you want to cheat so much go play COD BO6 or Warzone where there is no such thing as an anti-cheating policy. You can cry harder for me and we OG BF and FPS players just laugh at you. If you want to cheat so much by running scripts (because that is the only way you know how to have fun with sec...

Recommending Battlefield 2042, have I gone crazy? Maybe. Let me make this very clear, this is still not as good of a battlefield experience as you might expect. Even after all the updates, it still lacks the quality of prior battlefield titles therefore ranks at the bottom of the list of all modern battlefield games for me. The launch was horrific and a disgrace to the series of Battlefield. All the updates it received have definitely improved the game a lot in comparison to the launch, but it's still not up to the mark in my opinion, maybe because some of the flaws lie at the core of this game that simply cannot be fixed or changed through patches. It's a straight downgrade in comparison to prior Battlefield games in almost every sense and I cannot understand how they fumbled it so hard when they didn't even bother to make a singleplayer campaign and only had to focus on multiplayer during its entire development cycle. It severely lacks in animation variety and quality, making it...

I had high expectations for Battlefield 2042, but unfortunately, the game turned out to be very disappointing. It has so many problems that completely ruin the gameplay experience: Frequent bugs and crashes: The game often crashes or has weird bugs that are really frustrating. Server issues and lag: The servers are very unstable, and the high latency makes the gameplay chaotic. Unbalanced gameplay: Classes and weapons are not well balanced, with some equipment being way stronger than others, ruining the competitive feel. Worse graphics and map design compared to previous titles: Especially the maps feel boring and poorly designed. Lack of content and features: Despite expectations, the game offers limited and repetitive content. Unwanted gameplay changes: Some mechanics have changed in ways that take away the classic Battlefield feel. Honestly, EA might be better off focusing on building a solid launcher than on this game itself. Overall, if you’re looking for a stable, balan...

Only playing just to get free bf6 skins -_- This is the true definition of garbage. Awful shooting mechanism, gameplay & maps . Kills doesn't feel good like other BF games. Feels like a mobile game. Most servers filled with AIs even now player count higher than ever. Bought it with 2.99$ & still feels like i got scammed. Free to play game like Delta Force is way better than this piece of shit.

Battlefield has done a great job keeping this game relatively clean compared to COD or other games. This is a game where the majority abide by being polite and more games should follow suite. It has great various gameplay scenarios and is a game that I recommend to younger players especially when compared to other such games.
