About This Game

You rule over the vampires of a city in the heartland of the United States, and your decisions dictate the lives of mortals and immortals alike.

The Vampire Regent is a 460,000-word interactive dark fantasy novel by Morton Newberry and Lucas Zaper, where occult political disputes and clashing loyalties tell the twisted story of a town
designed for deceit.

Manipulate the mayor so her projects align with your interests. Use high crime rates to conceal the activities of your kind, or suppress them to maintain an unsuspecting façade of order. Provide nourishment and safety for the vampires under your rule while trying to preserve the secret of their existence, and face the enemies that threaten it.

Drink blood at nightclubs and listen to rumors and tragedies—or make some of your own. Practice the centuries-old tradition of fencing and put your skills to the test. Quench your thirst for blood, power, or knowledge, and even find love… if such a thing is possible for a non-beating heart.

  • Play as male or female, and explore your sexuality beyond mortal conventions.
  • Choose your bloodkin: the shapeshifting Balkanics, the future-seeing Aznuits, the blood-controlling Neshmaals, or the mesmerizing Merovingians.
  • Spend your nights pursuing different activities and interacting with characters whom you can befriend, antagonize, or get rid of.
  • Fight vampire hunters, criminals, and others of your kind—or manipulate them toward your goals.
  • Unearth buried secrets about the world, the people around you, and even yourself.
  • Find love in the sleepless nights, including a centuries-old buccaneer, a Scottish fencer who is not yet used to immortality, and an altruistic outlaw vampire.
  • Craft your personality through your decisions, and face the consequences of your choices.

I wasn't expecting much from this one, but I was pleasantly surprised. I actually liked this book more than the official CoG WoD games: Night Road and Out for Blood. Granted, this is a stand alone IP and not constrained by the official licence and everything that comes with it, but not every author can utilize the creative freedom to its full potential. Morton Newberry & Lucas Zaper did a good job in this aspect. Vampire Regent will feel familiar to fans of WoD as it's very WoD-like world at it's core, yet it's not constrained by WoD lore, so the authors were able to take a few "creative freedoms" here and there. On one hand it made the novel accessible to new fans who are unfamiliar with WoD lore, on the other - some moments and confrontations were made more "spectacular" than it was possible in constraints of WoD system. The novel has high replayability with plenty of side content and several endings. At a current price of just 5$, it's definitely worth a buy.

It was really fun to play a character that starts at the top for a change and doesn't begin as some bottom feeder. It took about 11 hours to finish a play through. You are faced with many leadership decisions where you can solve problems through resources and delegation but can easily get your hands dirty and take care of things personally too. Of course you have to be careful who you trust. There's one creative scenario in particular where you hand pick a team so you really have to be strategic about people's strengths and weaknesses. This game was a fresh take on an ancient struggle and I really enjoyed it.. It's not the World of Darkness but White Wolf fans will feel right at home. I wish some plot points had been fleshed out better and the ending was very straightforward but there were some surprising and exciting plot twists along the way that kept me flipping pages. I felt that my bloodkin (or vampire clan) made a difference to the story and that my character did and saw thing...

Another story that was surprisingly better than I thought it would be when I purchased it! It starts off a bit slow and stark, and I found myself struggling to get into any kind of "story" feel with it. For the first hour or so i was just making random choices, trying to figure out where the story line was. What was being asked of me to do? But as I continued to make random choices, bits and pieces did start to come together and before I knew it there was a plot, mysteries to figure out, meaningful choices to make. By the end of it I was making choices I never even considered an hour before. Plot twist after plot twist, and when I got to the end I chose, I still didnt know if I had made the right choice, or even If i was happy with the outcomes (to be fair I was informed that "I would be told how this story ends.... but that was the end lol.) My final choice was left without an explanation as to what I had achieved, other than it being reported that it was sucessful in the fact ...

My first and only review because I'm so angry. The broken save system ruined a game which i had really enjoyed. Effectively I lost four hours gameplay with one decision. A decision I only made because I believed the save/load system would work.

Very awesome and well made character driven secret society manager It's still a CYOA or Choose your own adventure game but it's so well done and has the bonus of actually immersing you as a leader of a secret society (of vampires) Depending on what/how you do with your society (and your character of course) you get a number of different endings and they are very cool indeed The game is quite long and enjoyable for such a cheap price with many events and things to do. Very replayable. Of course it's finite but it's very long so it'll be a while before you finish. Even with the length of such a work, it doesn't lose any enjoyability within the intensity, suspense, roleplay, etc. precisely because it takes the time to lay out the scene, plot, and setting to (as stated before) immerse you in your secret society building. 9 out of 10 highly recommend and would play again

A very disappointing interactive novel that had a decent start and premise. It's a story about you, one of the most powerful and likely most influential vampire in a city. Problem is the story was clearly written for someone in a much weaker position. No matter how you stat your character you're constantly either made a fool of or getting your *** beat by some nobodies. It makes no sense to me. Like it was impossible to come up with threats for someone who was more powerful when the story called for it. Several parts also penalize you for wanting to explore several parts of the narrative, this makes no sense to me either. This is practically a book, let me read. Then the story is pretty basic and the huge "twist" at the end is so ham-fisted it's ridiculous and takes away all the weight built up with characters before. Like, it just didn't make much sense and tried to pull together too much nonsense to try and make it work. Also, the shortest interactive novel I've played by a bit... ...

do i recommend the game yes BUT......... the writing is good but not having a save option that actually works fucks this game over big time. since even if you have super stats and choice logic. one wrong choice at the wrong time ends your game. and then you have to start over. completely. you can't even go back to the saves you made before the story chapters. in my case i played it once in demo without cheats and completed the game then bought later to play ageing after i pretty much forget the plot. that time i used cheats for a stress free play through doing what i wanted since the main strength of the game is the writing. Que random story fight. i had 130 stats in everything and i did save before in-case of bullshit. basically i win the story fight of course since my character is OP. Que stupid suicide by character i fought. of course just running away would be the choice that saves you to live another day. yet there is 3 other choices one of them being grab grenade and pin it a...

Very interesting game. I'm fairly new to this gaming genre and if someone is like me I highly encourage them to try this one. The different actions you can take can really affect the outcome of the game and after some time each choice makes you uneasy and at the same moment curious about the aftermath. Congrats to the devs, I hope to see more of you soon.
