About This Game

Assassin's Creed™ is the next-gen game developed by Ubisoft Montreal that redefines the action genre. While other games claim to be next-gen with impressive graphics and physics, Assassin's Creed merges technology, game design, theme and emotions into a world where you instigate chaos and become a vulnerable, yet powerful, agent of change.
The setting is 1191 AD. The Third Crusade is tearing the Holy Land apart. You, Altair, intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict.
You are an Assassin, a warrior shrouded in secrecy and feared for your ruthlessness. Your actions can throw your immediate environment into chaos, and your existence will shape events during this pivotal moment in history.
  • Be an Assassin - Master the skills, tactics and weapons of history's deadliest and most secretive clan of warriors. Plan your attacks, strike without mercy and fight your way to escape.
  • Experience exclusive PC content - Four PC-exclusive investigation missions make the game an even better experience than its console predecessors, including the Rooftop Race Challenge, a race to a specified location and the Archer Stealth Assassination Challenge, where the player must assassinate all archers in a certain zone to help out fellow Assassins.
  • Realistic and responsive environments - Experience a living, breathing world in which all your actions have consequences. Crowds react to your moves and will either help or hinder you on your quests.
  • Action with a new dimension-total freedom - Eliminate your targets wherever, whenever and however. Stalk your prey through richly detailed, historically accurate, open-ended environments. Scale buildings, mount horses, blend in with crowds. Do whatever it takes to achieve your objectives.
  • Relive the epic times of the Crusades - Assassin's Creed immerses you in the realistic and historical Holy Land of the 12th century, featuring life-like graphics, ambience and the subtle, yet detailed nuances of a living world.
  • Intense action rooted in reality - Experience heavy action blended with fluid and precise animations. Use a wide range of medieval weapons, and face your enemies in realistic swordfight duels.
  • Next-gen gameplay - The proprietary engine developed from the ground up for the next-gen console allows organic game design featuring open gameplay, intuitive control scheme, realistic interaction with environment and a fluid, yet sharp, combat mechanic.

Game freezes every 20-30 seconds due to an Ubisoft server issue. Game is completely unplayable.

I'm going to hesitantly give Assassin's Creed a recommendation. The game itself is amazing, and it was my first real experience with the franchise. I recommend anyone who hasn't played this game to give it a shot. The state of this port however is awful. I had to install a custom script to even get a controller to work with it and had to make a custom host IP on my computer so the game wouldn't freeze every 30 seconds trying to ping a long deactivated Ubisoft server. The most ironic thing I encountered with this was a guide where someone was asking for help with the issue and all the community members were pitching in offering real solutions and ideas, and a Ubisoft representative responded with a link that was basically "Are you sure your computer is good enough to run this?" Truly embarrassing. Amazing game, shitty company. I would recommend the game due to it's own merits, but be aware of what you're getting into and the fixes you might have to employ.

Still a good game in 2025, here's how you fix the 30sec lag issue (this worked for my AM4 build): Go to the "hosts" file in Windows>System32>drivers>etc Open Hosts using Notepad as an Admin Put "216.98.50.240 127.0.0.1" at the very bottom of the text two line returns after the last original line of text Save Launch the game! Alternately, if you just deactivate your Wi-Fi it may fix the issue as well if you don't want to mess with editing game files. I am not a tech expert, please do at your own risk

The only Assassin's Creed game that doesn't need Ubisoft Connect. 10/10 for that alone.

Assassin’s Creed (2007) may be the start of the series, but it already showed how ambitious Ubisoft was. The atmosphere of the Holy Land during the Crusades is amazing crowded cities, climbing towers, blending in with crowds it all felt revolutionary at the time. Altair is a great protagonist: cold, serious, and slowly learning humility as the story progresses. The narrative about control, freedom, and faith still holds up, and the soundtrack perfectly matches the mysterious vibe. Yes, the gameplay can feel repetitive by today’s standards, but the sense of immersion and the feeling of being an assassin in a living, breathing world is unmatched. A historic classic that laid the foundation for one of the biggest franchises in gaming.

After seeing much of what this franchise has to offer, it's safe to say that Assassin's Creed has done more for Ubisoft, than what Ubisoft has done for Assassin's Creed. Now, should you play this game? Definitely. But should you buy it? Probably not.

I’m experiencing a lot of lag and freezing in the game. It happens every few minutes, and each freeze lasts about 1 to 5 seconds. I tried to fix it, but nothing has worked so far. The last time I played, it worked without any problems, so I don’t know why it’s so laggy now.

Most unpleasant gaming experience I have had in 30+ years of gaming? Probably. This game is beyond broken. The infamous freezing/lagging issue makes playing an exercise in masochism. (The game freezes every 30-60 seconds, sometimes even more often during combat settings.) On top of that, the game controls were clearly never optimised for a PC. This means that, at the best of the times, all one can do is hope for the best. At the worst of times, all one can do is try not to break one's monitor. I seriously question how the freezing issue has never been fixed, especially as Ubisoft has been aware of the issue for years. I've seen how the game is supposed to handle on consoles, but sadly the PC version is nothing like that. Underneath these technical issues, there is a fun game. The plot is predictable but fine, the maps are nice, and the soundtrack is quite good. Quests are repetitive, but not too bad. I feel bad for the developers of this game, that people might think this is al...

Refreshing to go back to the basics of the game series. Liked AC more when it was based on the creed and the mission to control the artifacts of eden. I think the series took a wrong turn when it started to make games with monsters and powers. Going back to this is super refreshing.

This game delivers an incredible sense of nostalgia, taking me back to the very roots of the Assassin’s Creed series. The story is truly captivating, telling the tale of the origins of the Assassin Order, while also showing the transformation of the main character from being arrogant and reckless into a wise and respected Master Assassin. The overall experience feels deeply satisfying, both in terms of story and atmosphere. The only minor drawback for me is the lack of subtitles, which would have made the game even more perfect. This is an outstanding game and an absolute must-play, especially for long-time fans of the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
