For a small game, it is pretty impressive how deep and heavy the theme of this game is. The unique mechanics works perfectly with the game story and the star of the show would be the audio design. If you like multi-ending narrative game with heavy focus on main character development, this game would provide plenty of interesting experience to explore. Good start, looking forward for more from the dev in the future!

About the Game

Dying Flame takes the tradition of Japanese horror RPGs with their heavy emphasis on jump scares and puzzle solving and ramps it up by taking away the consistent source of hope and comfort: - Light.
Dying Flame is designed to leave the player plunged in darkness, while solving puzzles to not only escape the twisted mansion, but also uncover the full story of addiction, guilt and marital loss.
Dying Flame atmosphere will leave you fearing a 16-bit digital darkness, with a yearning to keep a lighter handy all the time.

- A horror atmosphere wherein players solve puzzles based on clues found in the house.
- Gather the items needed to solve puzzles, and unlock the full story
- You can save, but whether or not you save, will test you, stress you and give an understanding of an addict's craving.
- Death haunts your every step from the darkness.
- A sudden plunging death is possible with one misstep.
- Headphones *strongly* recommended.

Greetings.
The making of Dying Flame has been a labour of love and heartbreak.
The game boasts multiple endings, all drawn from our personal experiences, of loss, guilt, forgiveness and the liberation of moving forward with life, as a light or flame as your guide.
Between the demands of real life, full time employment and trying to work on a game part time, we found ourselves literally lost in the dark. Instead of giving up, we took a leap of faith and plunged into indie game development in June of 2020.
We’re finally happy with the design, and believe that we have created the experience we wanted, and are proud to share the story of James and Mary with the RPG Maker and wider gaming community.
We hope that you will gain an insight into pain, loss, grief, addiction and what guilt can do to a person, and that you will never have to personally experience it.
Just remember to keep the flame alive.

User Reviews
Dying Flame is a top-down horror walking simulator with strong exploration and puzzle-solving elements. Inspired by Japanese games like Ib, Mad Father, and The Witch’s House, Dying Flame was created with RPG Maker MV by RoundTable Games Studio, a five-person team based in Malaysia. Their goal is to make games that tell compelling stories, and their flagship game carries that torch with aplomb. GRAPHICS 8/10 Ever-present darkness conceals detailed pixel graphics. Pixel graphics have a wide range of shading and realism, but Dying Flame sits comfortably on the upper end of that spectrum. Moving around a black screen with only a lighter to guide you doesn’t afford many opportunities to show off the developers’ artwork, but it does evoke a powerful sense of vulnerability as you traverse the largely unseen expanse of the mansion. Intermittent flashes of lightning provide the only fully-lit glimpses of your otherwise pitch-black surroundings. When you encounter the mansion’s light-...
Dying Flame is heavily a story-driven game with horror elements. You take in place of a man named James to wander around in a house of some sort to uncover the mystery behind it. You must light your way throughout the game in order to see and check the vastly interiors of this massive structure. However, there are some cases where you need to work in the dark to progress. As advertised, headphones are definitely recommended. The game contains a lot of puzzles to solve. They vary in both type and difficulty. While the mandatory ones seem simple enough to solve, some are possibly far more challenging but not impossible. There's also...something else that would tries to hunt you periodically, but the holes in the ground are a bigger threat to me than that... Better watch your step...
