Short sci-fi/modern take on the puzzle box genre. For 86 pence (on sale) I purchased 3 hours of reasonably engaging puzzle-work. If you enjoyed other games in this theme e.g. The Room and House of Da Vinci series, you'll probably get some enjoyment out of this. For anyone who hasn't tried those, how badly could it really go wrong when you spend less than £1 on a game? Give it a go, see if you like it. Zero annoyances really, all the puzzles work as they should, no bugs. Graphical fidelity is a little lower than others, and the sci-fi setting means that some of the satisfying *chunk*, *click*, *whirr* noises when you manipulate the puzzles have been replaced with *beep* and *whoosh* which is different, but I think very slightly less satisfying? Not really a complaint, more personal preference. Overall, perfectly fine family-friendly puzzle game that works well as an introduction to the genre.

Machinika Museum invites you to discover and solve puzzles rich in mystery! An original adventure combining hidden objects and an intriguing story inspired by the excellent old school puzzle game Myst and the more recent The Room and The House of Da Vinci. In a distant future, finding machines from alien civilizations is not unusual, especially in a museum dedicated to them. Your job is to receive these devices and to understand how to repair them.
But this time, something is different. You have not been given any information and this seems to be rather urgent... What are these machines? Who sent them? Why won't anyone give you any answers? You will have to find for yourself which secrets and stories are hidden behind these mechanisms.

I wish there was a "Neutral" review, but I'll tend more to not recommending it than yes. It does have its pros: I like the design, the basic premise is good, manipulating objects feels nice. On the other hand, the puzzles are really simple and easy, sometimes made difficult only by clunky controls. They also *feel* like puzzles, rather than alien machinery. And the different locked boxes they come in are just ridiculous. Overall, while kinda pretty and interesting, I'd pass. Or maybe get it when really cheap (like I probably did).
Some clever puzzles and overall beautiful rendering.
