Very addictive! A good combo of shooting and tricky platforming. Normal Mode was fun and challenging enough to keep you pushing. The recently added Hard Mode DEFINITELY upped the difficulty in both enemies and platforming. It's been a blast solo...but it's even more fun with friends! The NPC interactions are both silly and rewarding, providing unique rewards. If Roguelikes and Run and Guns are your cup of tea this will probably be right up your alley!

I stumbled upon KFCowboy when I was browsing Steam for new games to play. The game title first caught my attention because it sounded unique and funny and the game looked quite fun from the trailer too. I would best describe the game as a mix of Celeste-like platforming with bullet-hell action of Enter The Gungeon. You're constantly fighting enemies and dashing thru spiked platforms while avoiding getting hit. The gameplay is quite challenging, but I like that the runs are fairly short so it never feels tiring when going for another one. You gain exp the more you play and you are able to unlock new weapons with exp. Each weapon has it's own unique boosts and you are able to stack different ones together to create different builds so it adds a lot of depth and replayability. The enemy variety is great and there's even some friendly NPCs that you meet along the way that help you out. Also, the music in the game SLAPS. It's catchy and has a western/Chinese vibe to it. For only $9.99, yo...
Not a huge Roguelike fan but when I heard that I can play co-op, me and my friend decided to give it a try (he's into Roguelike games). Overall it was very challenging, but super fun! Love how I can dash and jump off of walls. Super fast paced so if you're into Roguelike games, I'd definitely recommend it.
I have about 30 hours logged in early development builds and I am already impressed with how much work has gone into the Early Access version of this game. I will have to come back after playing through the current version to see if my opinion has changed but from how in touch the development team is on their discord I have nothing but high hopes! You're going to die a million times to spikes. You're going to die by being 2 inches from the edge of the platform. You're going to die by madness streaming across the screen at you. Then, you're going to have the perfect run with perfect dashes, head shots, and timing. That is the run where everything clicks and you feel like a god. Then you're probably going to die on the first level again! It make seem like a simple concept at first, and it really is, but it's executed well enough that you'll never feel like RNG got you. It's an art, or a dance, not just a shooter. I love it!
I found this rogue-like gem while searching through Steam. This game is a quirky yet extremely challenging run 'n' gun shooter. There is a definitive ramp up to the technical and operations of the game, but once you have solidified the mechanics of control, the game slowly opens up and builds upon your skill / learning curve. Kungfu Cowboy is definitively not a game for the easily frustrated as you will "die" and you will die a lot! But, overall, Kungfu Cowboy is an exhilarating fun game if you're looking for a shooter with roguelike elements. This game will for sure bring you hours of entertainment.
Don't sleep on this game. Solid game mechanics and good variety of platforming. Hard at first but gets easier after you level up your stats. And its multiplayer! A blast to play with friends. Highly addicting and has a lot of replay value. 5/5 would recommend.
I can see how one could think it's a good game, but even by indie standards the physics and controls just stinks on ice. There's no real polish and finish to it that I would endorse.
I got this game with a few of my friends during the sale. It's worth the money even at regular price IMO because there are 2 different modes so you are getting 2 games for the price of 1. The pvp mode is hella fun. I love using the sniper ability and sniping my friends from across the map. The run mode is pretty dope as well and it's up to 4 player coop. It's a side scrolling roguelike platformer with good enemy variety and stackable buff system. If you like ETG or Neon Abyss, then the run mode will be right up your alley. There's online matchmaking, but since the player community is pretty small, it will be hard to matchmake into a game. That's really the only con I can think of, but I hope the community grows so that I can play with other players. I highly recommend getting this game with a few friends and playing together.
I'm not into rogue lite's because I feel its so punishing when you die... but Kung Fu Cowboy's quick to get you back into the action while not seeming like you lost your entire life's savings. It gets really addicting despite the deaths piling up because you get better fast, and finding new ways to master enemies and levels is a blast. Getting different combinations of power ups also provides great variety to each run and makes it feel unique in it's own way. I had a ton of fun using the shot gun with the double dash- suits my aggressive play style. If you have friends, playing coop is also a fun way to get through things together. HOWEVER... having played an early build of the PvP multiplayer... I can tell you that is where this game is really special. I can't wait until that's released!!
Kungfu Cowboy is a fun fast-paced sidescroller. This game reminds me of the time back when games were largely away to challenge yourself and to see if you had what it took to beat them. The jump and dash dodge mechanic is really unique and makes gameplay dynamic. Love the theming, the background artstyle, and would love to see more level! I play this game casually but I could see speedrunners really diggin this game. BUY THIS GAME IF YOU LIKE TO CHALLENGE YOURSELF!
