At the turn of the millennium, the world of Tahnra is headed for a reckoning. The long and bloody conflict of Veridian Succession left the Empire of Veridia scarred, its people subject to brutal hardships. Under the reign of Empress Florina, the vicious cycle seemed to be broken, until a rogue General abducted her from the capital, mustering his own armies and raising the flag of rebellion. You, a young academy graduate, will command an expedition against these forces… a conflict that will set off a chain of events and shake the very foundations of the world.

Played this for 36 hours, all campaign + side mission. Quite a learning curve for the first 10 hours (you have to really pay attention to the UI and tutorial menu to play properly). After I understand the mechanics, I spend a lot of fun times of just organizing my army, gameplay was super solid. And that's the primary charm of this game. The rest of it are just..... serviceable. Dialogue and story. Well it is what it is. Too cheesy for me. I know a lot of people had fun replaying this game over and over again. And, I thought of purchasing the DLC and starting a new game now that I know the mechanics better. But then I remember I had to replay all the mission. Some are fun, some are serviceable, some are just too gimmicky for story purpose, and I don't think the good mission can cover my annoyance of the sucky mission. That's my primary negative for this game.

Wish i could leave a positive review. I had a really good time playing initially, but apparently for plot reasons after defeating the rebels, the game strips you of all the troops and items you collect in the opening bit. Having all that progress forcibly taken away is not great.

Reminds me a lot of the old Sega Genesis game "War Song" (or Langrisser outside the US) mixed with some Fire Emblem goodness; very retro style game. It has a little bit of that Fire Emblem bonding/romance kind of thing to it but the bulk of the characters didn't feel as fleshed out as you'd find in a Fire Emblem game. I never felt really attached to the characters in this game, not even the player character, which made the stakes feel somewhat lacking in the story beats. The combat and strategy takes center stage here and works very well, even if you have to figure out some nuances like squad building for each leader, etc. Some maps end up feeling more like a slog than a challenge, however, particularly once you reach a point in your power levels and squad makeups that very little poses a real threat. (For reference, I played through on Captain difficulty which is the recommended one) The enemy smartly creates choke points in their defenses but their respective threat level makes i...

Very solid Srpg, the gameplay was good, the animations were good, and the maps were mostly solid. the overall story was good, the only real downside is the character writing itself which is goofy and immersion breaking, like the writer was embarrassed to get immersed in his own world and think of what characters would actually say instead of what some quirky goofball from our current period would say.

First of all, the UI is totally awful. It doesn't make any sense that you have to do so many clicks just to perform a single action. Of course, you can get used to it if you keep playing enough, but that wasn’t my case. I have 127 hours in the game because, after finishing a mission, I would just leave the game open bc I didn’t want to deal with the UI to prepare my army for the next mission. Setting up everything for a new mission was a pain in the $%#. Even simple things like changing objects or equipment were pretty annoying. By the end of the game, I didn’t improve any aspect of my army because I didn’t want to deal with the UI anymore, and the last mission remained unfinished because of it. The story was really simple and sometimes downright cringe. Dialogues overall are pretty awful, and the characters are flat, they’re not enjoyable at all. Bonding dialogues are the worst in the whole game. They need a new writer ASAP. I know there’s a second part in development, an...

Good solid game. Scratched some kinda of itch I've been having for a good single player game.

If you love Ogre Battle, you'll hate it after this. This game blows it out of the water, and I'm a huge fan of the Ogre Battle series. Played through twice in a week. Phenomenal game! 12/10

Great tactics RPG. The customization of the different armies is very in-depth and the combat/strategies make for a really compelling playthrough

I like this game a lot, so far. It definitely helps to lookup some guides or tips about the systems in the game after you've played about 10 chapters
