I really liked the premise of this game but it was massively underwhelming. It was basically clicking the equivalent of "Next" constantly until then end...and then you're sitting there wondering where the last hour and a half went. I got it on sale, and even that was too hefty a price.

"Fragments" is a short, but intriguing narrative suspense story that gives you all the answers you need right from the start. Your job, as the confused protagonist, is to put the fragments of your mind back together again in order to come to terms with the reason you've ended up in the position you are in. Through flashbacks and clever visuals, explore the "prison" in Evan's mind with a particular attention to detail and speak your truth. If the idea of seeing alternate endings and dialogue branches aren't enough to keep you coming back to the game, the catchy, original soundtrack might do the trick; you'll be singing it for days after playing. Despite not being tasked to solve this mystery, "Fragments" offers an intrigue that draws the player in and allows them to consider the way they exist in their own world, outside of the game. Overall, a fantastic gaming experience!
It's short, but it's a good little story. Took me two plays to get all of the beats properly. Really enjoy the sci-fi elements, and would love to see them leaned into more. The romantic story is familiar territory, but it's handled well. Grab it and enjoy if you want a quick little narrative.
Fragments is an awesome narrative thriller, set in the near future when it is possible to reconstruct memories and use these to help solve crimes - what a cool concept! The story is well paced, the game lasts around an hour to an hour and a half (if you want to see everything) and is accompanied by an atmospheric soundtrack and cool features like a controller rumble which really adds to the immersion and makes decision making feel like a serious business. Looking forward to playing through it again to explore the alternate ending and unlock more achievements. Really great game from a dev who is exploring some very cool sci-fi ideas! PS: Steam seems to think this game isn't compatible with MacOS Catalina, but it definitely worked fine for me!
I would rate this neutral; it's cheap and feels like a short scene from "Always Sometimes Monsters". The dialogue was a bit too slow for my taste, and could benefit from not being -this- predictable from the start.
What can I say about Fragments. It doesn't overstay its welcome, but the time you will spend with it will leave an impact. Personally, I have dealt with things similar to the games premise, and it really resonated with me. Go in blind, and be sure to pay attention to every. little. detail. 10/10 will be getting all the achievements!
TLDR; I really liked this INTERACTIVE NARRATIVE EXPERIENCE and it's not Yet Another Shitty RPGMaker Project. Buy it. Actual review; I'll be honest. I know the dev personally, and knew he was making this game. But honestly? I had no idea what it was or what he was doing. I wasn't cool enough to get a pre-release copy alright, I bought this with my own money and had to dive into this thing of my own free will completely blind. All I knew was that it was some kind of mystery game. At first glance it's very edgy, in that obnoxious "That One Guy You Knew in Middle School" kind of way, with the inner monologue of the confused main character being especially cryptic and nagging. I think it's intentional, but either way it really does get on your nerves. A lot of things in this game get on your nerves, but not in a "god I can't keep playing this garbage" way. It's a mystery, and sometimes the mystery is what gets on your nerves. Two "detectives" corner your amnesiac main character repeat...
A short but powerful game. The writing had me kept me guessing and second guessing my choices, and the dystopian setting just compounds the experience. Incredible work from Codapill and the team, the game is an absolute steal and well worth your time to play multiple times and experience all it has to offer. Looking forward to more from this developer in the future!
