TL:DR Buy the game on discount, it has enough content for I'd say a solid 15-20 hours. The devs continuously update the game and listens to the reviews to improve. The devs are worth supporting for full price. But for the casual players, buy it on discount. Game is super close on being recommended, but not there yet. This game is built for people who enjoys playing RTS games as tower defence. In it's current state, its not worth the $33 CAD price. The game has a solid foundation for the devs to build upon on, hopefully their vision becomes fully realised. It is very hard to create meaningful progress on 2-1 hour game sessions, or at least progress that you could visually see.
Some suggestions for what could be improved.
In-game time: The clock ticks way too fast compared to the actions of the survivors. I'd say about x2 to x2.5 the current action speed of survivors to balance it out, or slow the timer by 2 or 2.5, i'd say the latter. Upgrades: There ne...

About This Game
In a couple of weeks, society collapsed. Cities are empty. There is no electricity, no water, and no food. Yet, there are a few survivors...
Type in the name of the city or town, download the map and start playing! Thanks to OpenStreetMap’s real-world data you can choose any place in the world for your survivors.
Establish a new “Infection Free Zone” wherever you choose. Set up shelters and production facilities. Adapt existing buildings to new needs. Build new farms and power houses. Establish defenses with walls, gates, and towers.
Utilize your knowledge of the city. What is the best place to defend? Where were the grocery stores, where were the pharmacies? Where would you look for weapons?
Remember that it’s dangerous to search the old buildings, there might be some infected lurking in the dark!
Each night your settlement might be attacked by large hordes of the infected. Fight them off with every tool available - melee and ranged weapons, vehicles, walls and light. Research a vaccine or a cure for ultimate victory, or just enjoy rebuilding entire cities!
Your Zone is not the only one that exists. Your survivors will surely find other surviving groups. Some will be friendly and willing to trade, but others will be extremely hostile. There might be some fighting involved!

This is one of those games with a fantastic concept that didn't realize it fully - or at least hasn't as of mid 2025. Rebuilding the world starting with your own neighborhood is really neat, and is plenty here to do. But the mid- and end-games are kinda empty, and there are a number of gameplay systems and loops that feel unfinished. I'm not unhappy about my purchase but I don't know if I'd recommend it to the casual gamer in its current form. I am optimistic because the Devs are active on the forums and listen to feedback. Looking forward to updating this review when the game leaves Early Access!
Would like to be able to choose several units quickly by swiping over them. Would like to transport resources 'en-masse' with a vehicle to derelict vehicle's location to speed up repairs. More research topics. Landmines/IED's/Traps/bombs/etc.... Loving the game.
🧟 Infection Free Zone - Surviving the Apocalypse in My Backyard
What I Played: After choosing my actual hometown as the location for my base, I spent hours managing resources, sending out squads to scavenge, and fortifying my settlement against hordes of infected at night. The Good:

Being able to pick my real home as the base location was a cool personal touch that sucked me into the game.
Managing resources and strategically setting up defenses felt satisfying and kept me engaged.
The Bad:

The gameplay loop can get repetitive after a while, especially when you're grinding for resources in the same areas.
I wish there was more variety in the infected types or some unique challenges to spice things up.
Verdict: Recommended - If you're into resource management and base-building games with a zombie twist, this one is worth checking out. Despite some repetition, the feeling of survival and c...
The game crashes too often. It also take an excessive amount of time to load the map and get started playing. Once playing, I was unable to select my squad for combat or scavenging. I read I could cycle through using TAB to select a squad which allowed me to play. I really like the idea of this game being able to play on real world maps. Maybe with future patches it will get better.
I didn't get very far into this game because the dialogue, both written and voiced, felt like AI, and neither was disclosed in the store page. If it's not AI, then the writing is weird and off-putting to say the least.
I'm not sure what I think about the gameplay yet, it seems fun but a bit shallow. That said, the fact I could experience that in what was clearly my home town (not perfect, but good enough that I could find most important things) adds a *lot* to the experience.
Really good and great to hear the map will be getting bigger in the next update. Best thing I found which was really good, you can play in your local area of where you live, or anywhere in the world. Just a really nice touch.
Yes, only 3 hours in and I'm writing this review. The reason is because I just lost all of my men because they starved to death. I couldn't build a warehouse because wood is like gold in this game. My car was full of food for my starving men but they can't reach that when it's not in the warehouse? I've read this before but some basic lumberjacking would be a gift from the Gods. You cannot progress without wood and because it's so rare and you need a lot of it you are constantly scanning for buildings to demolish to get it. But if you get more resources than you have to build more warehouses needing more wood and so you have to search for yet more wood from buildings.... and it goes round and round. It's all about wood folks :-) I had this vision of my own town with towers, gates, barbed wire but alas I was searching for wood when trees are blocking my view....trees I cannot cut down for some reason. Enough about the woord. I can see the mechanics that are in place and how it is sup...
