Only played an hour and i don't recommend it for now. It show some potentiel but too much bug, too much nothing. I mean you dont see anything. i walked for an hour to see a wolf and some goblin spawning in front of me. Except that its a big flat world without anything. No guideline where to start or where to go. For now it is not a beta but an alpha and i would recommend everyone for that price to wait before the purchase.

About This Game
Thanks to everyone who waited for him and I hope you have a great game! Avalom, even after its release, will go through a process of constant updates based on in-game events to which it will bring new content. As the audience engages, I'll add extra content and of course I'll always be getting better!
Developed by a single person and based on an RPG book written by him! Set in a huge open world, Avalom: Ancient Heroes presents a rewarding action combat experience. Players embark on an epic adventure in a rich and alive world with their AI companions. In a world where mortals and gods coexist and live on the same plane of existence! Interpret and be whatever you want in this endless journey where anything can happen! Remember you are free and can live however you want without any linear story to follow, you are the one who tells your own story!
*Fascinating narrative driven by your choices - You don't just decide to live freely in the world of Avalom, you make important decisions that change the future. Each choice has its weight, and its actions can lead to several results. Avalom is a highly personalized journey where a false move can lead to a series of events that alter even physical aspects of the world, making you and your allies truly unique.
*An Immense World to be Discovered - The world of Avalom has never been so large and so detailed. It is completely open and ready to be explored. Discover the enemy that is ready to act. Reveal hidden caves full of lurking creatures. Avalom is vast and dangerous, but unraveling its secrets can mean the difference between victory and defeat.
* Intense and strategic combat - There is no wrong way to play Avalom: Ancestral Heroes, except in which you die. Fortunately, you can build characters with a giant skill tree to build unique characters on.
The game has the following features:
Creation of Characters with genders, races, paths and professions;
A gigantic skill tree on which the player can build different types of characters;
Item Creation System based on collecting monster items such as materials, runes and others to create hundreds of special items;
Skill system based on dice rolls which requires success in some tasks in the game;
Construction of the fort as an operating base for the improvement of allies and others;
Multiplayer mode requires you to create an in-game session for others to participate in or simply create a private session for your friends and friends to play together;
Reincarnation System (End Game);
When the character reaches its peak around 85 points of evolution, it can spend its life and reincarnate again with improvement of all its stats, being able to perform up to 10x this procedure.
Difficulty System (End Game);
As the character reincarnates the monsters' difficulty system will automatically be assigned, this applies in multiplayer mode to which everyone involved will be linked.
Much more information about the game you will only find by playing and discovering unique secrets.

It is ambitious, but janky. . .and in spite of the jank, it is pretty OK. I'd give it a 6/10, maybe a 7-8/10 if the developers (which hopefully they will) iron out the janky bits. Pros: -Dynamic/Random Events in an Open World Game -Lots of varied builds -Challenging - you do a lot of damage, but so do enemies -Lots of surprises, little side events, mechanics -Flying mounts! Cons: -Janky AF -Animations can be wonky -Bad optimisation, laggy when settings are high even on an RTX 2080 -Some animations are missing, for example on a few spells, so it looks like there is input lag -Even though it really isn't, the open world FEELS barren/lifeless
So far this game sucks. They had a good idea but it just drops you into the game doesn't explain anything. navigating is difficult because the map is crap. it has potential but its way to early to actually enjoy. definitely requesting a refund
You know, I don't often post reviews unless a game really strikes me and this seems like one of those times. Unfortunately, this time was like being backhanded by a brick. It is not an experience I would imagine as enjoyable. So, that said, let's get on with the painful truth. Honestly, this is a good example of a good concept, not a great one but a good one. If given more time, attention, and a larger team of developers and programmers, it could have wound up as a good game. As it is? I would say it is maybe an early alpha build or a early beta if you really stretch what that means. But is it worth calling a completed product? I don't really think so. It should not have been released just yet in my opinion. This game should have probably been worked on for another few years MINIMUM. From what I have experienced, the character creation is a mess. The options are so limited, I have to wonder why it was even included at all. The only noticeable changes you can make are to ge...
Giving a final review update after extensive time and hours playing the game..the old original first earlier impressions will be listed below the latest updated info (this will be long but should help give extensive information to people).. Latest update after many hours playing through the game and starting more than one character as well (this should help people wondering if the game has longevity and replayability).. - So after much more time with the game I can say without a doubt this game is definitely worth the money and is very cool. The amount of game play here for less than $20 is insane and I have personally not seen any other steam indie game in this genre that is less than $20 with this much content in it. At first the full possibilities are not clear and the game may seem a little sparse because it does not have a triple A budget, but as you play the game more you will see many interesting things open up and see the uniqueness of the game world and variety and depth to...
The very first time I started this game I got an error and it would crash during the loading screen and wouldn't even start up for the first few days. When I finally could get in I couldn't do anything, I looked at my controls in the game and even reset them, and changed them myself and I literally can't even draw my weapon let alone attack, the game feels extremely clunky and the way the wolves run just look outright stupid. However I think the general idea of this game is cool, it needs A LOT of work. Luckily I bought this piece of trash on sale.
Horrible typos. Bad grammer / No quality control editing was done. Illegible UI on a MASSIVE monitor. No character customization as advertised. P*** poor frame rate on a top notch machine. Bad graphics. Artless, clumsy "action" animations. Boring combat style. Voice acting does not match script. Bad voice acting. Boring world with nothing in it. Loaded with pointless fetch quests. Horrendous/thoughtless control scheme. Why did I pay money for this??? Requesting refund.
It's very hard to believe that this piece of crap is considered good by some people. I was totally put off by the out-dated graphics when I first looked at the game but figured I'd give it an hour. Well, I didn't have to wait more than 15 minutes to see that this is an absolute horrible game. The first clue was the price, $18 tells you that Indie developers are the worst there are. It's dated interface and mechanics comes are seen every where and constantly, from the Options page to the game world. When you're in the Options, displaying Apply next to each item multiple times! When the game starts, the character creation is from the dark ages when developers had no clue how to script an interface that was simple or intuitive. The worst was the opening screen that tells the user to go to an outside guide to learn how to play! WTF!!!!!!! This is a sign of the laziest coding I've seen in 20 years. Then you get the horrible animation, story telling, etc...the depth of this crap never ends ...
So I've played this game 30 hours and cannot recommend it. It's open world the type of Daggerfal made with Unreal engine... There's essentialy 5 types of trees, ground can be either road, grass, snow or mountain and there's different types of elevation like plains or small hills but that's pretty much it. Everything looks the same with occasional castle or ruin placed here and there. All this filled with respawnable enemies, absolutely horrific combat system where you'll get stunlocked even on high level by group of begginer goblins. Developer has no respect to players time and adds unnecesary farming requirements for progress like mining 100 nodes of this and 200 of that. Basic things like mining/chopping and picking up items take unnecesairly long time just so they can write on their forums that game has "many hours of content". Moving from place to place is horrible experience and only way I've managed to get through is speeding up the game using Cheat Engine. Same how I went throug...
First of all the the graphics are fine, the land is not flat and empty that sounds like a gpu problem its a little rough around the edges but its got real promise. My main problem with it is theres not enough options. I like to set key bindings to what i'm comfortable with, but right now you can't do that. secondly its way to much work to draw my weapon but yet if i hit the mouse wheel by accident it sheaths it or switches it to something else. Lastly it needs desciptions in the character menu when you mouse over the icons so you know what they're for.I understand there is a video for the game but I don't wanna have to keep going back to a video when in mid game,besides most people retain more from reading than they do from watching.Overall I like it , though i've played about an hour and a half I haven't run into any bugs and thats really good for an EA game plus most of my problems i may be able to get around on my end with Razer Synapse and as long as the updates keep coming semi fr...
