Bravely Default II, developed by Claytechworks and published by Square Enix, marks a return to classic JRPG roots while introducing a new standalone story, cast, and world separate from its predecessors. Originally released for the Nintendo Switch and later ported to PC via Steam, the game delivers a nostalgic experience infused with modern polish. Built on the foundation of traditional turn-based combat, exploration, and job systems, it manages to pay homage to genre classics like Final Fantasy V while maintaining its own identity through the innovative Brave and Default mechanics. With its richly layered systems and a grand, globe-trotting adventure, Bravely Default II is a love letter to fans of old-school RPGs, though it comes with both its triumphs and drawbacks. The story centers around four new Heroes of Light: Seth, a shipwrecked sailor; Gloria, a displaced princess seeking the lost Crystals of her kingdom; Elvis, a scholar researching a mysterious magical tome; and Adelle, a ...

In addition to a traditional, turn-based battle system that combines jobs and abilities, you can enjoy innovative and strategic battles unique to the Bravely series by taking control of your turns via the Brave and Default system.
Brave and Default
Brave Points (BP) dictate how many actions a character can use in a single turn. Players can have characters 'Default' to stock up to three additional BP to use in a turn, or characters can 'Brave', to use more than one BP to perform multiple actions. Balancing stockpiling and using BP is a key component in battle strategy.Jobs and Abilities
Each character can exhibit both a primary and secondary job class, with each job specializing in different abilities.Combining jobs allow you to handle two abilities simultaneously. You can create an all-rounder balanced in offense and defense, or perhaps a character that specializes in magic. Your tactics and how you develop each character are up to you.
Acquire New Jobs
“Asterisk bearers” will often block your path forward. By defeating them, you will obtain an Asterisk that enables you to change jobs.Screenshots

Bland story that is sadly better than average for the genre and in general interesting mechanic ideas (mix of equipment weight, aggro rating, atb and the b&d system) brought down by bad balancing. Maybe the endgame is worth it, but i dont care enough to reach it; can't say I had a bad time but it certainly was not a good one. Not to metion the outrageous 60 bucks price. Skip unless you plan on not using the vanguard class at all.
iT IS A SOLID jrpg AND IT IS A S/E game
Different dev team than the previous two. Story is not as gripping as the previous two. There is more content and the battle system is better than previous entire imo.
This game is truly amazing! If someone provided me this game without mentioning the name of the game, i would have thought it was Final Fantasy 5 Remake or Reboot! It is so similar to the old Final Fantasy games (1 to 6) specially 5. Highly recommended game!
. . .too much of a grind. Screw the final boss, I'm not grinding to change all my classes and jobs via boring as heck battles just to cheese it. Don't have the patience, don't have the time. I'll just look up the ending on youtube. ..
I'm going to be really controversial and say everything about this game is just as good as Bravely Default except for the story. The story is pretty bad and forgettable. The voice acting is also a huge downgrade. I'd recommend you switch this to the Japanese voice acting and don't worry too much about the story. The mechanics and jobs are just as good if not slightly better than Bravely Default. I'm currently also playing through Bravely Default and you just can't compare it has a way better story and it makes it a way better JRPG. Ultimately I'd say play Bravely Default 1 if you haven't but this game is just as good except for the lack luster story (there's also a few balancing issues) that drop it down to like a 6-7/10 whereas the original was closer to an 8.
good JRPG not miss out
meeh
This game is awesome. If you enjoy classic turn-based combat, beautiful hand drawn dioramas, great voice acting and diverse job class system...this is the game for you. Four Heroes saving the world!
