The game is a cool concept, it just isn't what it sets out to be. There is an online game called Eridani. That game is very similar to this game, but it has good controls, better graphics (honestly I don't mind the graphics of NEO), more customization, and more options. If the game is updated a lot more I wouldn't mind coming back to it, but at it's current state it needs a lot of attention.

About This Game
Admiral, take a seat in the commander's chair, a map of the star system spreads out in front of you, look at it and command your troops, occupy new territories and obtain much needed resources.
In NEO: Commanders, you will become one of many space admirals who have the opportunity to show their command skills and compare them with other players. Become the master of strategic thinking and make your name known throughout the universe! Chose heroes you hire to lead your fleet to many victories. Only the best strategists will stand against the numbers of ruthless enemies.

In game, you have the opportunity to place heroes on your ships who will then bring certain bonuses to those ships.

Thanks to its 2D pixel environment, NEO: Commanders offers a simple but fun and unorthodox way of controlling your units, which takes place behind the battle plan in your commander's ship.

Thanks to the possibility to choose your own fleet design, you have the opportunity to completely configure the individual units of the ships that you will send into battle.

In NEO: Commanders, you will explore various battlefields in various corners of the wide universe, by supporting research you can gain better technology and give your units a strategic advantage, thanks to the experience gained, level your units and strengthen them in the next battle.

Just bought the game and already experiencing bugs. The full screen settings button doesn't work properly. Also whenever I load into a game the full screen isn't there. It's as if part of my game is blacked out on both sides. the blacked out spots cover my game mini map and the Star Base menu to build ships. I do not recommend this game until this bug is fixed. If anybody has a fix for this please let me know.
Im still not sure what im doing, but i like it thus far. I think this would be a better experience with a tutorial and stuff. it need some polishing but you can see the love and ambition of the developer.
This game is not really worth my time at the moment. First off, no tutorial to speak of. You're left trying to figure out what to actually do, and by the time you work it out end up getting destroyed by the AI. Also at random intervals the game seems to stutter and stop completely when under attack, which is a real pain to deal with. I know the graphics are supposed to be simple, but could benefit from some refinement here and there. Sounds are nice to have in game, shame of the lack thereof. Last update was months ago, not sure if developers are still interested in this project or not? Only thing that would change my mind is if some major changes are made, till then it's a barely playable mess. TL/DR All in all, i got it for 59 pence. Which is honestly hardly what it's actually worth currently. Not recommended
Needs a lot of love, a tutorial would be a good start.
moving around the map is really clunky, my main problem being i can't move using the map nor drag and drop/ accelerate my camera movement you can't zoom out far enough(and can zoom in too far), needs shortcuts for the menus and they need to be telegraphed properly also barely anything to do to balance out the confusing ui
This game at this current state doesn't feel finished, there is no sound in game there is no tutorial the controls are slow and so are the turning making any sort of unit movement near impossible.
Not bad but need more work
