A fun microvania about a killbot rebelling against his murderous instincts during a mission to send a scientist back to the carbon cycle. He will encounter tea-sipping ex-military, hardcore milk enthusiasts, and a massive (albeit diffident) weeaboo skull on a roughly two-hour journey of self-discovery that's very much worth tagging along for! Have you noticed that it's done up in a candy heart palette to emphasize the theme? That's quite a nice touch, and I didn't even notice till after I'd beaten and closed the game! It's made by the creators of Spooky Ghosts Dot Com, which I also enjoyed and do recommend -- but which I criticized for a dash that was "blinky" rather than "swooshy." Well, get ready to slip the surly bonds of Earth (or whatever this planet is called) and chase the wind, gents! The dash in SJ-19 is full of swoosh, with cartoon motion lines and everything! And it's exactly what I wanted, actually. Did you do that because of me? A fin...
Just finished this game and loved every second of it! Short, sweet and to the point. Cute and clever plot with endearing characters through out. Certainly on the easier side of things, but some of the bosses offer a challenge. Good variety in the bosses keep things fresh and make good utilization of your abilities. I did find one bug where i was changing my upgrades several times in a row and the game crashed, but i loaded it back up with no lost progress. other then that everything else ran super smooth. I will be checking out anything Zertuk does from here on out. well done!
A very cute metroidvania. If you like the graphic style you will probably enjoy it. The story is daft and charming as well. As advertised it has a focus on boss fights. I can't fault it for that as they make that clear on the store page. For me personally I prefer a larger world to explore and fewer boss fights but this was certainly fun either way. I was able to complete it on easy mode as a not too skilled player. The battles can be tricky, so it doesn't feel too easy. A nice way to spend 2-3 hours, fun ending. Good work to the devs for making a small game that does what it sets out to and feels complete.
It's a nice, but somewhat linear metroidvania. Movement feels good, bosses are nice. The only real downside is how short it is. I completed the entire thing in 100 minutes, all achievements, normal difficulty. Also, enable hold to shoot. I feel like it should really be the default.
Love the pixel art, and the game play is spot on.
Disclaimer: My scores/reviews are almost always based on having bought the game at close to the "lowest historical price" on steam at time of purchase. Quick score: 4/5 Notes: Pretty fun little metroidvania. Only real complaints are that I had a couple screen transition issues, 1 of which forced me to relaunch the game, and also the game is only about 90 minutes long. Game is very simple, but extremely well made and enjoyable from start to finish. Would recommend checking the options menu and consider turning on "hold to fire" option.
This is an enjoyable mini-metroidvania that doesn't occupy you for long but makes the most of that time. You play as a robot tasked with killing some people but across his adventure learns the error of his ways and in the end revolts against his killer-bot programming and saves the people and beings heβs tasked to destroy. The game doesnβt do anything unique or special, at most is the final boss fight where instead of killing your enemies you have to replenish their health bar until itβs filled up. But what the game has is a cute vibe, nice minimalist graphics, and a metroidvania pared down to its core gameplay essentials. This wonβt keep you occupied for too long. It has a a couple varied sections with the best probably the sewer system, some neat boss fights that arenβt completely pushovers and overall is just fun to play. Thereβs nothing here you havenβt seen elsewhere in some variation but the overall package is really nice and fun. If you need a smaller-sized metroi...
Loved it. Tons of charm.
Awesome small metroidvania with tough fights. Great for completing in one sitting.
