As someone who loved the first game ... Don't buy the second game. It lacks the charm and atmosphere of the first game. Instead of exploring neat environments and fighting at least occasionally cool bosses, you are running around what is basically a game lobby with random bosses constantly popping in, spawning minions, fighting each other, fighting the neutral monsters, running away 20 feet, repeating the process, etc. etc. all in a swirl of overlapping low-rez graphics. The game trades all sense of atmosphere, exploration, and curated experience for this constant meaningless churn. It just feels silly; you are supposedly hunting these mages, but really you are chasing them from room to room and back again, like a gaggle of kids chasing a soccer ball. The screen also becomes way too busy way to quickly; as soon as you have multiple bosses on screen you just have to stand back and let them fight it out. There's brief moments in this game where you're reminded of how fun the fi...

At first, I was confused because instead of 2d Dark Souls like first game, you have a base camp and going to hunt mages and craft equipments from their material? But when you understand that "hunting mage" mechanic, its fucking perfection. That mages are actually live and wondering in their areas like Monster Hunter. Fighting with them feels like a boss fight and very fun. Recommend very hard
When deciding on buying this game, please don't think of it as as a sequel to Salt and Sanctuary. While similar in name, this is a very different game. As a few people have mentioned, the gameplay loop is more a monster hunter type experience, with a central hub and different areas to visit. There are a lot of possibilities for Co-op and PvP. Unfortunately due to the low player count, invasions are difficult to come by. While the hunting of mages can feel a bit repetitive at times, there are still a lot of unique bosses and secrets to find. If you think it looks interesting, the main story line takes about 20 hours to complete. Only thing I wish they did better was incorporate the abilities you get more in the combat. At the moment they are mostly used for traversing the world.
A little scary to fihg the bosses but I LOEV THUS GAME its my childhood
Great game, but not a sequel to sanctuary. They are very different games, you should know it takes more of a monster hunter aproach to the formula, the game by itself can be pretty short if you simply rush the main objetives. As for the game itself the gameplay mostly feels pretty solid, but some times you may feel your character moves slower than the rest of the game. The bosses feel good to fight and the metroidvania type exploration is still as good as in sanctuary the coop has also been improved quite a bit. Solid 7,5/10 in my opinion

A very lovely game that's similar to monster hunter (though I've never played monster hunter), very similar to it's prequel, Salt&Sanctuary, it's got polish, and it's a very satisfying thing to hunt mages. Love it
