Highfleet is one of those games that's easy to hate and hard to love. I must've dropped this game about 4 times before finally just committing fully and beating it. You're expected to fail initially. In some ways, it's a roguelite where your progress before contributes greatly to your next run allowing you to build a stronger fleet using ships you've created in the workshop. Don't let anyone tell you you can't beat the game using vanilla ships. You absolutely can while making modifications during your campaign. Once I understood the admittedly complex UI, ship customization, and intended strategy, I grew to love the game, but damn is it still hard to love. The strategy and tactics are much simpler than you think. This is not a wargame, 4x, or grand strategy title. It's a wargame-lite with a strong emphasis on guerilla tactics mixed with arcade flight combat. There is absolutely simulation, but this is NOT a sim. There is no logistics, no diplomacy, no city management, fuel is infinite...

About This Game
As a commander of the Sayadi Task Force you’ve been sent to regain control of the rebellious Kingdom of Gerat by whatever means necessary. To succeed will require careful exploration, clever resource management, cautious diplomacy and building a fleet capable of ruling the skies unchallenged.
But maybe a much greater destiny awaits you in this journey. As this forsaken land still hides the mysterious prophecies of a long forgotten past.
Killer combat
At the heart of HighFleet is a unique form of combat in which giant ships bristling with weaponry duel above the desert. This is no mindless button mashing, however. Far from it. Battles are won by skilfully moving into positions that allow you to exploit your enemies' weak spots.
Serious strategy
Mastering HighFleet requires much more than winning battles. You must explore the mysterious lands of Gerat. You must manage your ships, men, fuel and other resources. You must engage in diplomacy with the various factions. And then there’s the prophecy to be unravelled…
Freedom to fly
Thanks to HighFleet’s in-game ship editor, you can build the perfect fleet to suit your style of fighting. The many distinctive ship options and upgrade paths ensure the game will provide plenty of replay value.One-of-a-kind world
The “dieselpunk” visual aesthetic, immersive music and sounds, and underlying mystery of HighFleet combine to create a truly unique and unforgettable atmosphere. This is a world you won’t want to leave until you’ve uncovered every secret and followed your destiny to the very end.

Amazing style and concepts, but it hurts my hands to play. Shame they stopped supporting it before they finished the gamepad controls, could have made an amazing steamdeck game.
WARNING, THERMAL SIGNATURE DETECTED "is it a strike fleet or planes?"..... WARNING, VISUAL CONTACT, "Its a nuclear ballistic missile? Oh there's 7 of them? Oh its too late to dodge? Oh I have no more CWIS or AA missiles? Why is 'Tanc A Lelek' playing? ... uh oh" . . . STRUCTURAL DAMAGE RECEIVED, EVACUATE THE SHIP!
I really wish I could like this game. The world building is awesome, the systems look cool. But the difficulty curve is just too punishing. Unless you are willing to invest dozens of hours in getting good and testing out meta strategies you will just get rolled over constantly. If you get spotted by a strike group, just restart a new campaign. Miss the silent strike ? Restart. Anything that goes wrong, restart.
Nice concussion and eye retina damage simulator.
There is no ultrawide monitor support and nothing is resizable.
The entire game is poorly explained and forces you to dump hours into searching online, the UI is complete garbage for no reason, all fights are a slow and boring mess 1v3 or more because yes, the shipyard has no quality of life whatsoever, you'll place every single component and structure by hand and god forbid you miscalculate a row or column cause you'll have to erase everything misplaced, I tried to like this game, I tried to find fun here, but this is utmost slop poorly developed and explained. This doesn't even feel like a full realease but an early access, I do not recommend buying this shit even for pennies, I'm asking a refund.
RADAR EMISSIONS DETECTED THERMAL EMISSIONS DETECTED VISUAL CONTACT *Proceeds to die from a massive nuclear cruise missile spam*
This game is incredible. The art direction is so confident, and it makes the game shine. The sound is masterful. Play this game.
It's a really cool game, very characterful and pretty to look at as well. The artstyle is honestly "chefs kiss". I just really don't find the game intuitive to play, I have put 6 hours into it and I still barely know what is going on most of the time. I find that there are so many things going on most of the time that I can't properly follow that it gives me a headache. Therefore while I can honestly see the potential of the game and the effort that went into it, Its just not for me.
