About This Game

Build, Gather and Fight in a Desperate Last Stand Against an Onslaught of Never Ending Evil!

The darkness is an entity of evil. Some say it is the manifestation of human fear and nightmares, others say it is a wandering mass of damned souls haunting us. The origin of the darkness itself is unknown, but one thing for certain is that we can keep it at bay through the power of light and fire.

The complete, full release of Age of Darkness: Final Stand is available now and includes Co-operative Multiplayer, Campaign, and Survival modes.

Brace yourself against huge tidal waves of Nightmares. Leveraging an internally developed technology called ‘SwarmTech’ allows the game to render over 70,000 enemy units on the screen at one time. These enemy legions claw their way up through seething fissures in the earth to reinforce ‘The Veil’.

Light up a rich, complex, procedurally generated map to claim territory back from ‘The Veil’. A dynamic living death fog that conceals enemies and drains life from your troops. Holding the line against this terror is not for the faint of heart.

Borrowing from the the roguelite genre, Malices are random afflictions placed on the player during every Death Night, unraveling the best made plans. Conversely, if a Death Night is survived, you may decide between three randomly selected Blessings, enriching the experience and giving your army a much needed edge.

Lead the charge against the horrors of the night with powerful and unique Heroes. Using special abilities gained from leveling up, these Heroes can be key to turning the tide of a desperate battle. But beware, the Nightmares have Elite roaming champions of their own that drop precious resources when killed, posing an extreme and ever-present threat to your expansion.

  • Co-Op Multiplayer - Team up with a friend in co-op multiplayer to survive the onslaught, defend humanity from the forces beyond the Veil, and reclaim the light together

  • Epic Campaign - Award winning single-player campaign full of epic battles and dire threats

  • Survival Mode - Put your endurance and skills to the test in the endlessly replayable Survival Mode

  • Award-Winning SwarmTech™ Technology – Witness the internally developed ‘SwarmTech’ technology, allowing the game to render over 70,000 enemy AI units on the screen at one time.

  • Unique Heroes & Factions – Choose Heroes reigning from three distinct Factions - The Order, Rebellion & Volatists - each with their own playstyles, abilities, bonuses and army units that offer a unique gameplay experience.

  • Dynamic Day & Night Cycle – Fight to reclaim territory by day and survive against the relentless horrors that come with every night.

  • Living Death Fog – Encounter The Veil, a living death fog that conceals terrors and adds a new layer of danger to your survival, which must be kept at bay through the power of the Light.

  • Malices, Blessings & Hardships – Embrace roguelite mechanics that make every run unpredictable and unique.

  • Elite Nightmares – Hunt down wandering powerful enemies for Dark Essence, each requiring different tactics and strategies to defeat.

  • Horror and Embolden Status Effects - Embolden your army to aid them in battle, but ensure they are protected from the brutal effects of being Horrified.

  • Terrifying Nightmare Foes – Face off against horrifying monsters like Spitters, Crushers, and Wraiths, each wielding unique abilities.

I'm really into 'They are Billions' (TaB) like games. I've played a bunch of them, look forward to them and i think it's a great way to evolve the RTS genre. So i'll just come forward and say that AoD, out of the list of those i've played, is not the best one. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game, it's just that there's better competitors out there. I won't make this a long review (especially considering i've only 10h of game-time so far), you're probably better off reading someone else's review on it if you want to have the solo experience and play the story campaign. But it does have one thing that none of them do: Co-op. And yes, it's just as good as it sounds. It's a bit clunky, it's probably not very well balanced, but it's fun. That's what matters. Would i recommend AoD if you're playing it solo? Probably not. There's better TaB-likes out there. Would i recommend AoD if you have a friend to play it with? Absolutely!

There is a great game here BUT multiplayer is laggy, choppy, and crashes a lot, making the game unplayable in multiplayer which is the game mode I bought the game for

This was one of the more infuriating experiences I've had lately. It felt like every design decision was focused on wasting my time rather than creating fun. At it's core it's a hero unit micromanagement game. Each mission gives you one or two heroes and sends you on an impressively long list of objectives while fighting off endless enemy spawns. And immediately the annoyances begin thanks to objectives and enemy spawns tending to be in different directions. Non-hero units are quite underpowered, so you'll frequently need to stop your objective momentum to return home and defend. Base building is very shallow. It mostly exists to limit your army size and unit replacement rate. You need to expand the land area of your base to build a larger army, however the larger base needs more towers to defend which requires archers to crew the towers. The result is never feeling like your army is actually growing. The game looks great and ran well for me. Story is fine, but not exciting. Ultimat...

Previously I would have recommended this game, however recently it has completely stopped working. I have tried to get the game running now for about a week to no avail. Crash to black screen on loading into a game. I've tried every possible fix I can find online. Between firewall/antivirus work around, updating drivers, completely uninstalling drivers and reinstalling, running as admin, etc, etc, etc. Nothing works. Every time I try to load into a survival match or into the campaign, it crashes to black screen, and the crash handler never shows up, so you don't know what's happen. It just freezes and has to be closed by TM. So, if you're running AMD good luck, you may not be able to play this game at all.

Could have been a good game if the game itself didn't suck. Story? Fine. Characters and voice acting? Fine. Everything else was a buggy mess. Poor pathing, terrible AI, objectives not registering.

Bought this game in Early Access because I loved absolutely everything I saw about it. I even postponed playing until the final release so I could get the full experience. First, I tried the campaign. A few missions in, it already showed a lot of problems. The storytelling is incredibly poor and superficial. The story focuses on three characters, with three more barely existing in the background. Not a single character is properly introduced. Each one embodies a single archetype, with nothing else to flesh them out. I tried to guess what kind of development each character might get - what arcs, even cliché ones. But there are no arcs. The “heroes” aren’t characters at all, they’re just storytelling functions. There are hints of potentially rich world lore, but only hints. The world is poorly described - we never get a clear sense of how anything works. History, factions, power balance, hierarchy - everything we learn could fit in a single paragraph. The story itself is ...

Unoptimized slop. I'm starting to detect a pattern of unoptimized, poorly running modern games: They're all running Unreal Engine.

Solid game ideas. Not as good as They Are Billions. This game struggles with less is more. In this case more becomes less. There are too many mechanics to make it fun. The armor repair mechanic specifically needs to be changed so it regens when out of combat or simply removed. Having to constantly run troops back to a building to repair their armor is such an unfun mechanic i cant recommend purchasing this even on sale like i did. It basically makes melee unit borderline useless when they are already weak to special units as it is. There is potential here so i really hope the devs fix these issues. Until then stay away.

it sucks it might be a good game but the developers clearly favor some heroes than others where it matters the most if they can't make all the heroes equal in their owen ways i don't recommend it
