Hello there Mystica overall is a decent game. I will start with this. I do not recommend the optional stuff late game though. The grind is real and that's from someone that usually likes grinding. The enemies just balloon in health and damage. Its just not a fun rewarding endgame content with combat in mind. (Meaning fights are tedious in several optional cases.) Compared to Empire there is some balancing, which falls off late game. Sad days. Music however is pretty good, the story is pretty decent, the visual effects are better than in Empire. Overall it's an improvement and a success as a sequel. If combat is your main focus in a game than i wouldn’t recommend it late game as its pretty dang annoying. I for one would recommend it… albeit barely for me.

About This Game
STORY
- Set thirty years after a near-apocalyptic incident caused by powerful magic, the world has turned against the mysterious natural force and instead embraced manmade technology.
- In turn, this has led to widespread Persecution of anyone with magic abilities, something people are born with and have no control over.
- With the powerful always clamoring for more power, it could only take a single elected emperor to begin the genocide of all magic people…
CHARACTERS
Play as Vyral, a far-from-perfect mercenary who initially shuns his dormant magic abilities. With a hostile brother and mysterious family past, discovering who he is and where he stands is part of the early adventure.- Aided by Evie, a budding knight from the allied kingdom of Falm in the North, and Bailey, a childhood friend of Vyral with ties to Falm’s higher ranks as well. Rounding out the playable characters includes outsider Poppy, a hostile foreigner with little trust, and several guest party members as situations evolve.
- Bismarck, Vyral’s brother, who leads a mysterious faction of soldiers in black. His organization targets areas of powerful magic, but their exact motives and goals are unclear.
- Drake and Frey, two powerful rulers who lead the efforts in attacking magic across the Empire. Determined to see magic wiped out entirely before another disaster can occur, they’ll stop at nothing to eradicate the rights and lives of any and all that can use it.
- Other forces rooted deep in the world’s history… still looming and plotting in the dark as the world descends into chaos and war…

Note: this game is something of a sequel to my first published game, Empire; however, it is not at all necessary to have played Empire in order to enjoy or become immersed in the world of Mystica

User Reviews
I've really enjoyed playing through "Mystica". It's an excellent successor to "Empire", the developer's first game. Although it's not necessary to play "Empire" first, I strongly recommend it; it's also a very good game, and many characters and locations appear in "Mystica" again, which continues "Empire's" story 30 years later. If you still decide to start with "Mystica", you can read about all of "Empire's" important events in the menu's detailed "notebook". "Mystica's" story is gripping, the dialogues are witty and well written. Constant power struggles between different nations and the persecution of magic users are dominant themes throughout the game. The conditional turn-based battle system is also fun and challenging, featuring the usual elemental skills, status conditions and a very player-friendly skill-chain (quick time event) system to deal some extra damage. There's even a story mode that eliminates random encounters, so you can focus on the story if you want, and even in ...
The game's plot borders on brain-dead and lost my suspension of disbelief after a boardroom of a handful of people elected the equivalent of "magic Hitler", who was completely transparent about his desire to basically murder half the population just for having magic potential. It feels like it was written by a 5-year-old. Other than that, it's a decent enough Final Fantasy clone.
It's good. More JRPG than western RPG. Abilities unlock as you buy them and you'll probably buy them all. Abilities are purchased using a separate accumulative than exp though both are earned from killing. Map has some 'secrets' and if you miss them, you will miss ability unlocks. Hard to miss though. The story is well tread territory. I've played 3 or 4 games with the same general conflict/ persecution in the last year alone. If you read the description of the game in the 'About This Game' section of the steam page, you've probably already realized this. The characters are well written and distinct tropes, with some exceptions. The dialogue is coherent. It does a good job of getting you invested without being too off-color or too bland. Some of your dialogue options have consequences. It is grindy but you can turn it on story mode if you dislike grind. As someone who tends to like grind, I was pleasantly surprised that the combat system rewards you for active play inst...
Great game, if you are a fan of classic JRPGs I would recommend trying it out. Definitely worth the price point.
I'll give my early review to gain some traction for this game. I've only scratched the surface so far as I'm only in Chapter 2 and 8 hours into the game. I have not played the predecessor to this game "Empire" as I was unaware of it at the time of purchasing it. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who likes old school RPG's reminiscent of the SNES days. The game has a gripping and yet gritty story so far that rivals that of Final Fantasy and from what I understand it was done by a single developer! The music style is well used and reflects the tone of the game well. I have not played many other games made with an RPG maker but the couple I have didn't have the depth I have found so far in this game.
Enjoyed it. I wish more games like this allowed you to turn off random encounters, letting you chose when to grind or letting you explore without having to fight every 10 steps. Do recommend playing Empire first though.
I think the game is game, storyline so far is really cool! Also the battles are fun, and graphics are great keep up the great work your very talented. You will go far i believe in you
