Not really my cup of tea. Still, I can see why people like it. It's very, *very* similar to Soul Reaver but with a much less easy to navigate overworld. It's probably pretty telling that - according to the Steam achievement stats - two thirds of all players don't even get as far as the first boss.

I always remember seeing the ads for Shadow Man, a game so mature it could barely be contained by the N64, so you better be super mature to play it. But I never got to it until this remaster. It wears it's age on it's sleeve, but man did it pull me through the whole adventure. The Nightdive crew did wonders to this old gem, upgrading the controls, graphics, sound, and adding in cut content to flesh it out even more. The game itself is far from perfect, and the ending felt very abrupt, but I found myself collecting all the dark souls and blasting the underworld to bits. A cool game for cool people, but very much of it's time, so keep that in mind if you jump in. But if you give it a bit of your soul, it'll pay it back tenfold.

I remember seeing this game as a child, and I wasn't allowed to play it (It was rated M. It had a warning label on the box saying it included adult content, whatever that meant). Flash forward to 2025 and I learned that there was a remastered version of the game, and so I had to give it a whirl. Considering the game originally released in 1999, there's a lot of positive things here. It's definitely not a "must play" title, but there is something about it that enticed me to play it to the end. For those unfamiliar, the genre is basically a Metroidvania set in an open-world action/adventure. You have to find certain powerups and then backtrack to previous areas to access areas you previously couldn't. Positives: - The controls are excellent - Nails the atmosphere and adventure - The soundtrack is dope - Gives the player a lot of agency to decide where they want to go next (the game is non-linear. Some players may not enjoy this) - Difficulty is subjective, but I felt it was nailed h...
