About the Game

Unravel the intertwined fates of Kate Walker, a New-York attorney whose life was turned around by the call to adventure, and Dana Roze, a young and promising pianist in Vaghen whose career is threatened by the shadow of the Second World War

A tale like no other! Embark on a magical journey through the enchanting cities of eastern Europe, both in 1937 and 2004. Accompanied by the music of Inon Zur and the Budapest Film Symphony, piece together the puzzles that will disentangle the mysteries of two lives entwined together

Carve your path across an unprecedented adventure using your wits, repair broken instruments, open tricky locks, find elaborate ways to activate mechanisms from the past, but above all watch closely your surroundings for clues

The Budapest Film Symphony, led by the internationally acclaimed composer Inon Zur (Prince of Persia, Dragon Age, Fallout…) created a sublime score, and interpreted meaningful themes for the characters and locations throughout the game

Syberia: The World Before is the culminating point of the late Benoit Sokal’s steampunk and wonderous universe. After the first 2 Syberia game’s in the early 2000’s, now considered Point and Click classics, and the 3rd installment of the series in 2017, Syberia is back in all its glory, with a brand new story that can be played independently and modern graphics

A captivating story. Great riddles. Not much difficult, yet challenging. But you couldn't leave homosexuality out of it...couldn't you? It was just a sense yet. Get rid of the woke in the games. It is infuriating. Yet a great job in general! Congrats to all the team developing.

I would describe myself as a fan of the series, but I didn't enjoy this one so much. The "best experienced with a controller" part sometimes makes navigation clunky and it's difficult to position the character correctly in order to enable the right hotspot (this was also the reason for me to miss the achievement for secondary objectives). Also, for me, this defies the name "point and click". As others have described it's mostly an interactive story. The puzzles are generally easy (with one or two exceptions) and there's more of pulling levers (and drawers) rather than solving the actual puzzles. The story, even though very good, has a few parts towards the end, which didn't make much sense to me. In conclusion, if you're a fan of point and click puzzle solving - feel free to skip this one. If you're obsessed with storytelling and are fine with watching long cutscenes and click and dragging drawers to open / close them - I guess you'd enjoy the game :)

Great story and pacing, some challenging puzzles but mostly doable. The ending made me sob, I knew
that she was somehow related to Dana. The choices that Dana made at the end by letting the Zimmer's be with her daughter, it's just to much. The amount of just letting things go is hard to comprehend.
Benoit Sokal's final, heartbreaking masterpiece. After the teething problems if the third game leaving a lot of fans cold, THE WORLD before seems to perfect what Sokal and his team were attempting there, and married the new gameplay style to a stunningly emotional, epic storyline that is impossible to predict.

I loved the story, even though it was pretty obvious from the beginning. I wish it was a bit longer in plot, so there would have been a unique world corresponding to earlier games, and having a nice closure in plot. I felt the puzzles were rather plain, but had real world problems in them which was cool. I wished there were more brain cracking puzzles calling for interaction rather than movie like snaps.

A beautiful game in a truly imaginative world with a rich story. If you've never played the Syberia games before, that's ok. While it may feel like an odd place to pick up Kate Walker's story, it's easy enough to grasp the broad strokes of the previous games. There are some quirks that I'll note below, but generally speaking, if you like atmospheric, story rich adventure games with interesting puzzles, it's worth a play. If you've played the previous Syberia games - it's got all the best points of the previous games, but a lot of much needed upgrades to the user experience. Comparing to Syberia 3, the most recent before this, puzzles feel like actual puzzles with solutions to discover, and while there are a number of truly confusing QuickTime events, they're more boring than game-breaking (in one, I literally just held one direction button until the scene was over - not exactly immersive). It's a really nice homage to the series up to this point, and a genuinely unique story that fi...
