About This Game

Many years ago, the popular high-school student Ann Sakura went missing in mysterious circumstances. Despite her uncountable efforts to find her, Ran Ibuki never lost hope of holding the girl in her arms once again. Now, an old and dilapidated school in the middle of the forest is giving her that chance, but not at a low cost…

In The Chrono Jotter, Ran will find herself trapped in a chilling game of death and life as she fights to bring Ann back. The students in the school used to be slaughtered and, still, no one knows the identity of the murderer! To get out alive, Ran will be forced to solve this mystery. Fortunately, this place seems to have awakened a very convenient power within Ibuki: now, she’s able to go back in time every time someone dies.

Follow Ran in her travels to the past and help her find out the truth by gathering decisive clues. But what’s more important: don’t let anyone know about your little secret — after all, the one who slaughters can also tremble like a victim.

KEY FEATURES

  • Investigate a series of murders at the high school while trying to find your missing girlfriend.
  • Use your new found time-travelling skills to go back in time after every murder and find valuable clues.
  • Don't trust anyone! Even the most popular person in high school (or your closest friend) might be a murderer.
  • Places disappearing, the sound of footsteps behind you, silkworms trapping you inside cocoons.. is this real or is your mind tricking you again? Trying to discern reality from hallucinations is part of the challenge in this investigation.

I was a bit skeptical at the beginning, even though it begins with an amazing kickstart. For some reason, the way the story was told made me feel I was playing the sequel or spin-off of another game. It was as the story and its mysteries continued to unfold and characters dynamics became clearer and developed that I was genuinely hooked. The last chapter/act was incredible; it finished the story satisfyingly and left me eager to know more about this strange, weird world the story built. The soundtrack is charming; I keep listening to some tracks from time to time. The art was pretty, and it is one of the main reasons the game caught my attention.

It's very rare that a game truly grabs my attention so much that I don't realize that 3 whole hours had passed while I was playing. This was one of those games where it felt like I had only been playing for 5 minutes. There is not much gameplay, more of choosing an option every once in a while, and there is no real difference in the story depending on previous choices. One pro of the game is that the game allows you to view previous choices and exploration without requiring you to reload an old save, and it's a required feature at parts of the game that tie in well overall. The characters shine the most in this game, and I wish there was voice acting as it is strangely quiet for portions of the game, but I didn't realize the lack of voice acting until towards the end of the game. I would highly recommend this game, and their sequel game. Great writing, great characters, Highly Recommend.

Hey, what if there was a world where we were toxically codependent BUT we could kill each other temporarily as many times as we wanted? And we were both girls? Maybe even roommates? And it was just us, and a few other toxically codependent girls? Would that make your cold heart flutter? Would it? An investigation VN that becomes something of a social/drama VN, with all manner of hints dropped in the first act that pay off well later on.
