About This Game

Story
Johnny is the ultimate fighter, destined for greatness--at least he thinks so. After getting rejected from the Gladiators' Guild tryouts once again, he sets off on an adventure to become the gladiator he knows he can be. Along the way he'll team up with a shotgun-toting schizoid mouse, a dancing kung-fu cat, and other colorful combatants.

Features
 • 12 total playable characters, from man-eating ghosts to killer robots to clerics
 • No teammate left behind! The party levels up as one and shares the same equipment levels. Haven't used a character in a while? No problem!
 • "Friendly Mode", an alternate script that replaces all the spicy stuff for a friendlier experience.
 • Modesty settings let you choose between nudity and skimpy outfits or more modest, junk-covering designs for enemies and outfits.
 • Three difficulty settings that affect enemy resistances and the effects of their abilities.
 • Bonus outfits and weapons for owners of Zeran's Folly and Leowald! Talk to Kista in Tenforks or Kirkeby and she'll deliver your gifts.
 • 200+ abilities to master. Each character can have 8 abilities equipped at a time and many have 15+ to choose from
 • 150+ runes (equipment modifiers). Each character can have up to 9 runes equipped at a time
 • Save builds and share them with your friends
 • In-game bestiary gives you the scoop on dozens of enemies and bosses

As a poet once described the earlier games in the series, it's like playing an early 2000s webcomic.

cool game, some of the map layouts are a bit confusing, but the rpg mechanics are versatile and fun, you can really play around with your party and experiment with your strategy. plus their a LOT of options, theres at least 12 characters and they all have 20 abilities (give or take) that you can swap out anywhere.

So just like Zeran's Folly and Leowald, this game has lot of vulgar or juvenile humor and edgy or offensive dialog(it really is very reminiscent of 2000s) and just like with Zeran's Folly I still find it kinda refreshing because I don't usually watch media with this kind of sense of humor and especially not games in this genre. Plus this time there is option for different type of dialog which I think will help game get published on consoles and such though I haven't played game in that mode so I dunno what its like. Just like Leowald it isn't as explicit as Zeran's Folly was, but there are still at least one boss that likely gets changed on the graphics censor mode. I need to replay Zeran's Folly and Leowald at some point, but I do get weird feeling this game feels hornier than those two games? I blame Johnny's anime protagonist nature where everyone lusts after them(I noticed kickstarter implied there was gonna be some sort of minor "choose who Johnny romances" event but in release no...

My Experience Although there were some aspects of Johnny Lionface that I liked, overall I came away with a negative impression of the game. First off, I did like the diversity that is available in terms of party composition. Your party consists of any three characters chosen from the twelve that you end up unlocking as you progress through the game. I ended up unlocking seven of the characters as I was playing, and my party generally consisted of some combination of Johnny, Claire, Sunny, and Destroyer. Each character has something like 20 skills available in addition to runes that can further customize playstyle. Although devising a combination of characters and skills that complement well was an engaging process, I found the actual gameplay to be less exciting. At times Johnny Lionface felt more like a side-scrolling beat 'em up, and it could get very repetitive. Some of the areas are too large and go on for much longer than they need to. I also felt stran...
