The publisher has added an end-user license agreement that explicitly cites a privacy policy (http://legal.paradoxplaza.com/privacy) that permits them to collect information from the player's computer and sell it to advertisers. The game will no longer launch without agreement to these terms. Adding data-collection and advertisements to the game after the fact seems deceptive and manipulative to me, and I will not sign such an agreement unless I'm aware of it prior to paying for the product. I have therefore requested a refund on the game, and whether or not that request is granted, I hope this review dissuades others from buying it unless Paradox Interactive

The sellout to Paradox ruined this once great game. Now they harvest your data and sell it for profit. No ability to play the game anymore without agreeing to these terms. This should be illegal.
DLC models done wrong
I'm not a fan of this game in general but the reason I'm leaving a negative review is that I went to an objective on the maps and it basically said "you can't do this without buying the DLC", this was in the first area of the game. Thanks Paradox.
Im with most of the other bad reviewers saying Paradox adding its own launcher... blows.
I wanted to like this game. D&D flavors using deck-building mechanics in a roguelike, with a diverse party, overlapping in-run progression plus a meta-progression system? Sounds like the dream! Seven hours in, I think I'm done with this game for good. Despite looking great on paper, I've had a very frustrating experience. I *am* fairly new to the game (although not to the genre), and it's possible that my ignorance and bad luck have made my experience abnormally unpleasant. But given that unpleasantness, I have no interest in sinking in enough time to become knowledge. At it's core, this game has combat that feels very poorly designed, and the game does not provide the real hook for roguelike designs (for me): having impactful decisions from a small number of options, with enough randomness in the available options and interactions between those decisions that each run feels distinct, and that each run feels like there was a different and somewhat uncertain "optimal" set of decision...
Across the Obelisk is blazing fast and colorful fun. A little bit heavy on the stats side of things which can be confusing at times with all the modifiers in play but hey! There's so much to discover - can't wait to see it all! Give it a try - get it on sale, The main game is the cake - the DLCs are just the icing! Enjoy your meal - AtO rocks!
Across the Obelisk is a thrilling card-based strategy game that masterfully blends deck-building with clever power combinations. It’s engaging, challenging, and highly replayable, offering countless hours of fun and excitement. The game’s difficulty curve is well-crafted: it surprises you just when you think you’ve mastered it, delivering a balanced challenge that keeps experienced players hooked. Every run feels different, ensuring that the replay value stays high and fresh over time. If you’re a fan of strategic thinking, dynamic gameplay, and endless possibilities, Across the Obelisk is a must-play.
I want to say this game is fun and kinda addicting, especially if you like to watch Number Go Up like me, but there's two huge things holding me back from a positive review. #1 is the Paradox situation in general, and #2 is the frankly insane DLC situation this game has. There is no reason for a game like this to have ~$80 of DLC if they weren't trying to milk both the game and your wallet, and especially not when most of the DLC in question is just OK at best. I do appreciate the work the devs originally put in, but unfortunately the game I loved is just no more.
This game is pure fun from start to finish. Every run feels fresh, with new challenges, surprising twists, and powerful combos that make you feel unstoppable. The story, atmosphere, and music all work together to pull you in and keep you there. The hero and card system is brilliant. You don’t just play with a deck — you build it, shape it, and create combinations that can turn the tide of a fight in an instant. Taking down a boss with the perfect plan is incredibly satisfying. Co-op is a highlight. Playing with friends brings constant laughter, tense decision-making, and memorable moments, whether you win or lose. One of the best deckbuilders I’ve ever played. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys strategy, teamwork, and replayability.
