80's OVERDRIVE is a decent racing game with pixel art, reminiscent of old-school 2D racers. It has a simple but satisfying feel. Besides the other racers, you’ll also have to deal with traffic and even police cars. Even traffic can be aggressive, but I think it’s all part of the arcade experience. The retro yet clean graphics and cool soundtrack are a big part of the package. In career mode, you compete in a series of races while upgrading your car and/or buying new ones. Pretty standard stuff, and it isn’t hard, although the final race can be annoying. You’ll also have some missions, with a few requiring you to lose races on purpose for some reason. There’s also a time attack mode, where you try to go as far as you can before time runs out. You get extra time by driving close to traffic, but I found the amount of extra time you get to be very inconsistent. Lastly, there’s a sort of level creator, where you create tracks by specifying some parameters. It feels more like...

I paid $1.50 for this, and that's about what it's worth. It's not without some charm, but the buggy collisions, psychotic AI, and poorly thought out money system drag this one down. There are lots better on Steam, imho.
