Crash Bandicoot™ 4: It’s About Time

If you think the game will play as its peak like crash 3 then im having some bad news for you: - every level has hidden boxes (yes not one, multiple boxes) so have fun looking at every corner of the screen - game is bloated with gems so collecting everything to archiv 106% will take a lot of santiy (get it insanity... no? ok) - time trails for platin or dev times, dear god if you dont like speedrunning yourself dont even attempt there is no shame in blue - if you dont care about completion marks just run form beginning to end and get every box you can find. - there is a special mark for not dying once in a level and later on these level get very long now for the good stuff: - the controls feel great and the cricle below you when you jump is a good indicator to show you where you are while airborne - design wise there is nothing to nag about its a pretty game - music in this game is also great for a plattformer, some songs have jingles similar to the older entrys - you can play as c...

It's a good game but only for hardcore Darksouls like gaming for platformers. Crash bandicoot is about a child friendly game which should be medium difficulty and have some challenging moments. This Game is very good graphics new mask mechanics but it is too much, too hard. I can complete the game no problem but it gives me a headache the amount of focus needed and anticipation around every corner. Makes this game what should be relaxing and fun to tedious and frustrating.

Far too difficult and extremely tedious.

I grew up on the classic Crash games. This is by far the most bloated and boring level design I have ever seen in a classic style crash game. It's like they took the old formula and just said throw more stuff in til it sticks; Make the levels bigger so it feels like there's more meat on the bones, but they're simultaneously boring and tedious. Double the gem amount; I don't want to hunt 6 gems, 4 of which you will earn just playing normally and the others being annoyingly gimmicky, so I can unlock some le epic skins. It just feels like an unworthy grind. This game isn't fun to casually go through and again I couldn't imagine sitting down trying to go for 100%. The writing is cringe-worthy not in like an ironically funny way but more like a this makes me want to skip every cut-scene kind of way. Came from getting 100% on N sane trilogy, and after only 18mins I have zero desire to ever play this game again.

This isn't a crash game, it's a Dark Souls game wearing a bandicoot's skin.

I've finished this game 2 times now and it's the best CRASH BANDICOOT of all. Hopefully a 5th one will come out...

Such a great extension of the crash formula. I'm glad they cut down on the vehicle stuff from 3 and added the masks that augment crashes already fun moveset. This game is difficult af but so rewarding and honey on the eyes. Actually the only relative downside is the optional extra character stages. They're fun and interesting, but such a departure from the fun movement of crash and coco that it turns into a different game. It's really not such a bad thing to have this variety, but doing time trials with dingo required quite a few deep breathes.

So this is a difficult one for me because I loved the Crash bandicoot games whilst growing up and enjoyed the remastered versions as well. Unfortunately this one, just didn't work for me. There's some really good elements like the different mask abilities and how they're needed to solve the platforming puzzles. The problem lies in wider style, it's like someone has looked at previous crash bandicoot games and gone "people enjoy boxes and gems, let's just put more in" and applied this mentally to everything, gems, characters, boxes, levels, long of level, infinite lives. In principle it sounds great, the problem is it takes away from what made the originals so good, short sharp, challenging at points, but achievable in a fun, non-frustrating way.
