Yikes. Game is broken. $8.99 is WAY too much money for such a short(from what I've read) game that cannot be finished. You need to have a very sharp eye to find many of the objects and I didn't find the game particularly spoopy. The story was the standard psychopath with amnesia deal. Main character would swear they had no anger problems, then scream angrily like a wolverine on angel dust when encountering a locked door. Yeah, no anger problems there. :P I was annoyed that my character couldn't reach over a bunch of empty cardboard boxes or shove them out of the way to get a key. Instead, I needed a stick... I got stuck after the lights went out in the garage. When I went outside, all my inventory items vanished and I couldn't do anything with the fuse box. Since the game is so short, I restarted and it took me less than five minutes to retrace my steps back to the outdoors. This time only the stick was left and I was stuck yet again because I still couldn't do anything with t...

About this game
OUR PAST is a 3D first-person adventure game focused on puzzle-solving and a short story. You will appear in the role of the main character Patrick. The game is set in Patrick's old house. What happened in the past?
Patrick has never met his parents. He was brought up by his grandparents. He lived a quite normal life. But everything changed when his last and the closest family member, his grandfather, passed away under unknown circumstances. That day he ran away from home and his life became a mess. He got addicted to drugs.
Present
Years later, he returns home and barely remembers anything from the recent past. But it isn't a peaceful homecoming. He escaped from a terrible hospital a few days ago. Being chased by the police he decided to hide in the only place he knows. Now all he wants is to find the truth behind his grandfather's death.
"Exhausted and drained to death standing at the threshold of our old home. Ready… or rather forced to look into MY PAST."
During the gameplay, you will get to know the psychological side of the main character. His feeling, desires, and fears. Step by step, you will get deeper and deeper into his mind.

User Reviews
If there were neutral ratings, I would give this game one. + technical well made (by just two people) + atmospheric + fitting, beautiful illustrations and soundtrack + finding some items can be challenging - really short - totally overpriced for the length - very predictable story (with lots of medical and psychological bullshit for the sake of a tense atmosphere) - puzzles = mostly searching for items - gamebreaking bugs (had to restart once and replay a large part another time) And dear achievement hunters: Your achievements won't count for your overall stats (which is Steams, not the developers's fault)
I like it. The few minor bugs got fixed quickly, so I was able to finish the game today. I love short games like this with a good story and flow - it is a nice way for me to drift away (take a break) from some of the bigger and more advanced games out there. I always have my attention with ingame details, such as hand-drawn paintings, etc. Something that gives a game more soul/magic to it :)
enjoyed it more like a 5.99 game due to shortness, few bugs but they didn't effect my gameplay. I would say the only annoying thing I found is if you have something in your hand you do not know if something else can be picked up too, so make sure you drop it if it's an item not helping you.
It's fun, but very quick.
Our Past Positives: + Well made house and backyard + A few things to explore + The atmosphere + Ok graphics + Ok sound + Good voiceover + Two endings to choose from Negatives: - Too dark (low gamma) - Hard to see items - So-so puzzles - Cheap "jump-scares" - The bugs - Very short Total Score: 6.5/10
A very short thriller-ish mystery walking simulator game with an underwhelming story and a very boring map that takes place in a small area with very few interactions to do. The story is self-explanatory, about Patrick's past. As the player progresses in the game, one learns that Patrick has psychological issues even though he doesn't want to admit it, especially when he tries opening doors and screams loud about it. Patrick simply misses the time when his grandfather was alive, and somewhat has something terrible to be sought by the police. There is not much to gameplay: seeking tools and keys in order to progress the game. This is simply the puzzle, apart from the fuse box one which you have to use several times. The interactions is very poor as you cannot even open all cabinet doors. It's rather cheap to include the actual game title as an easter egg in the game itself, even if it could be a bit interesting to see the faces of the developers. What's more cheap, is that there a...
Terrible game with optimization issues and a play area smaller than a prison cell. Within that Lilliputian map, you must look for keys the size of an ant, to be able to open the doors and thus read the documents that explain the story of the game. The end! that's all, there is no terror here, there is no tension, there is no uncertainty, nothing at all. One of the worst indies I've ever played.
