This was quite an enjoyable little story set in pre-revolution France. It's not really a point-and-click adventure game as such and it's quite linear, so there's not that much replay value. This game has two things going for it that make me recommend it: The first thing is that if you're interested in sleight-of-hand card tricks and clever manipulations for fooling people, this game has plenty of examples of those. I'm fairly clueless when it comes to stuff like faking card shuffles, so a lot of the dirty tricks here were new to me. Of course you can't actually simulate the haptic feel of real cards in a videogame, but the presentation of the tricks was way more entertaining than reading a wiki about them. I've no idea if the tricks are actually historical, but at least they seem plausible. The second thing is that the gameplay consists almost completely of timed QTE minigames. If you enjoy playing cooking games such as "Cook, Serve, Delicious" this plays a lot like that. You're show...

I love the hand-drawn 2D art and the classical music. The premise of cheating in cards is also intriguing enough. However, the game has three major issues. First of all, the design behind the tricks for cheating. The learning curve is gentle enough: you learn one trick per story event throughout the game, from the simplest ones to more complex ones, for a total of 28 tricks. The trouble is that a trick is roughly a series of QTE events involving almost no player agency or creativity: for most of the time, you do not get to pick which trick to use or how it is used; you just follow blindly what you just learn in the tutorial. In addition, one single misclick leads to failure, and you have no way to recover from your error. This is particularly annoying since later tricks and basically a composite of early tricks, thus multiplying your chance of misclick. I would not elaborate other flaws of the trick design, since many negative reviews have already touched upon it. Secondly, the level...
The animations and art are excellent in this game, and seeing a presentation of how card tricks work and unfold is really quite fascinating, but unfortunately as a game, I found it hard to enjoy and recommend. If I had to breakdown my 7.5h playthrough of this game as a percentage I’d roughy gauge it as 50% tutorial-based learning card tricks, 40% fumbling through putting them into practice as part of the story, and 10% story text. As an example, when I play a game I like to learn a bulk of the mechanics during the early parts of a game, master them, and then enjoy the game from there. But in Card Shark it just felt labourous to me having the bulk of this game constantly throwing something new at me to learn through its entire duration. I think the game would’ve perhaps been better served focusing on a core of 8-10 tricks and then building and fleshing out a story around them, rather than having 28 of them and jumping from one to the next in short periods of time. So, it was more ...
the game have soft lock bug, cannot continue to the story
Amazing! Finally a game that isn't about killing, with a fantastic art style, storyline and exciting gameplay loop. 10/10 masterpiece!
Really fun and unique! Card Shark's main strength from my experience is just that the gameplay of cheating nobles out of their money and the setting and story of a conspiracy set in 18th century France fit very well and serve to strengthen both aspects of the experience, also the presentation is done quite nicely, with fluid animations and an artstyle that really captures the essence of the time period; the mechanics of the game, although a bit formulaic as you play more matches and difficult to grasp in some aspects are overall very satisfying to pull off. The bad parts of the game are mainly that it can get a bit dull after you learn a lot of the techniques since some strategies are just various rehashed parts in different order and that the story is interesting but the pattern of gameplay is mostly the same throughout (New location, learn new strategy, win 3 rounds, new location, etc.) which can be a bit discouraging. Another thing I think it's important to mention is that, althoug...
A really interesting concept with mechanics that link well to the narrative. Unfortunately, it's not accessible to people with disabilities relating to mobility of the hands. After a few minutes of play I am in agony. Switching to easy mode didn't help. I'd recommend this for people with full hand-arm mobility, but if you have any issues with your hands, stay away.
Nisu ostavili nista osim tisine. Cak ni ono ,,Dovidjenja, mali gremline" nikad nije doprlo do mojih usiju. Razlog nikada nisam saznao, a danas ga vise ni ne trazim. Prihvatio sam da odgovora nema. Druga stvar bio je moralni kompas. Mada, da budem potpuno iskren, pitanje je da li sam ga uopste ikada imao!? Mozda sam rodjen bez njega, kao sto neki ljudi...
Made me feel cool about myself Certainly made me remember poker knowledge that I didn't need.
While i like the story and the environment of the game. I felt at a certain point the mechanics of the card dragged the experience down. Especially with it's fixation on using thumbstick of the controller. It felt really imprecise to use often and would not read inputs or read them incorrectly. And i was using a PS4 controller in pretty good condition. It just made me want to quit the game. Then some of the memory games like fencing i don't like, maybe could of been done better if it use different audio ques along with the visual.
