I love the game. It is very refreshing to find a game in a new world and based on a new-old mythology and set up. This is not a medieval fantasy or your generic story. This is about real events, with some changes in order to improve gameplay and storytelling but in such a way that is interesting. Of course, because it is in early access it has a lot to improve and tweak but I recommend to give it a chance and help the developer to develop... Now, gameplay wise you have a party and you need to explore the (huge) map to finish missions. There are towns with markets where buy supplies and hire party members. At least for now and for me, the game can be hard. But there is a lot to learn that scratch that final part. Éxitos con el juego, me encanta ver el talento colombiano en Steam.

About This Game
What is NovaMundi?
NovaMundi is an open-world exploration game with tactical combat, in which you lead a group of warriors to traverse the ever-changing dangerous lands of the Andes in the XVI Century. Build your reputation to recruit people in towns, explore mysterious caverns filled with dangerous spirits to gain the blessings of the lands, barter for supplies to survive, and use diplomacy to unite your people against the invaders.
The people of the Muisca territory stand divided and are also constantly threatened by the nearby Panche, Muzo, and more. In this scenario, a run-down group of Spanish explorers has reached their land and seeks to profit from these divisions and conflicts to make alliances and ultimately gain control of it. It's up to your group to unite the Muisca and prepare for the upcoming invasion.

Deep in the dark caverns of these mountains, the fabric of reality is torn apart: the spirits of the land are angry, and they will test whoever invades these sacred places. Only the strongest will be worthy of the powerful blessings of nature to battle the invaders.
Explore the Andean mountains
In NovaMundi a new map is created every time you play. Mountains and rivers will make it difficult to travel the lands of the Muisca, no matter how many times you’ve explored them. When your party dies, it’s time to explore again.
On the way, you’ll meet the indigenous and participate in their struggles, explore caves; holy sites for the Muisca now unpredictable due to the upheaval caused by the Spanish invaders in the land. All this while you fight hunger, disease, beasts, and humans.
Key Features
Runs packed with content: Focus on the main quest to unite the Muisca confederation against the European invaders, help the natives in their jobs, explore procedurally generated caves fighting beasts and mythical creatures from the Muisca culture, search for exotic animals from the Andean mountains in the paramos, jungles, and swamps of the region and much more. You’ll need several runs to experience it all!
A unique setting: NovaMundi takes place during the Spanish conquest of South America in the XVI century. Meet one of the cultures that originated the legend of “El Dorado”: the Muisca.
Perks to tailor your experience: Is the game too hard? Too easy? Maybe you’d like to freshen the experience… NovaMundi has a perk system that allows you to tailor your experience to your wants and needs instead of an arbitrary difficulty system. Maybe you don’t want to play with diseases, or you’d like the challenge of only being able to use one kind of troop, or starting without any gold. Maybe you’re a fan of Andean wildlife and would like to recruit the help of jaguars and spectacled bears. You can do it with perks.
Real-time battles with big warbands and big consequences: NovaMundi has a satisfying combat system in which you can battle many different units against big enemy groups. Battle several dozen Muisca warriors of several classes, archers, and beasts against Panche raiders and Spanish invaders. Face archers against melee fighters and protect your frontline using guardians. Each individual is unique; if wounded they will need several days to heal, and if they die… There is no escape from the cold embrace of death.

I love it. Highly recommended. A good point of comparison would probably be Wartales, but I've only played that a tiny bit. It's the same Mount & Blade style, recruit-a-party-and-move-around-an-overworld-getting-into-combat-scenarios type game, but with pausable real-time combat instead of turn-based. Consequently, the strategy comes more from planning, i.e., equipping your party to deal with different types of enemies and ordering them on the battlefield accordingly, than from using moves and abilities or anything like that. You also have to maintain supplies of food, medicine, etc., so it becomes more of an expedition sim with combat than a combat strategy game, and it has a setting and trading mechanics that complement that well. It isn't easy either; your party can get wiped quickly if you make bad decisions, and you only get one save per run. The game doesn't seem to autosave though, meaning that careful saving will always give you a viable point to retry from. The setting is de...
I'll update my review as needed, but so far... The game has huge potential. There are a few bugs, but it just released in early access, so give it a minute. Other than the bugs, I really like some of the game concepts. The map is pretty big. I'm in day 35 or so and have only explored maybe 1/3 of it. Combat can be optimized, but it's still pretty rewarding to watch 40 dudes just melt to your warband. Excited to see what the coming months bring.
As a gamer of Colombian heritage (with 50% Indigenous DNA, like many Colombians), I was deeply excited about NovaMundi and its celebration of Muisca culture. The authentic voice acting, cultural details, and rich messaging about the Muisca people were truly highlights, and I deeply appreciated that aspect of the game. Unfortunately, the gameplay itself fell short for me. The clunky UI, awkward overworld navigation, and frustratingly underwhelming battle mechanics made it difficult to stay engaged. While I admire the ambition behind this project, I can’t help but feel that a stronger focus on storytelling, rather than the half-baked game mechanics, could have made NovaMundi a much more impactful experience.
I appreciate the setting but the individual game elements are too janky and rough for me to enjoy them. I feel like the game would have been better in 2,5 D.
Feels like Age of empires, but the fact every time you play an scenario is dynamically created, so the terrain is always unique! makes it defying setting you into the unknown and custom from the start; requires some careful strategy for success. I also find very cool it has real Colombian, Muisca tribe words
Feels like a janky Mount&Blade without the cool tactical battles. The UI is very bare-bones. Unit AI needs a lot of work. Could use gameplay balance. Yet, it is version 1.0. I was excited for the setting but the little I see is dripping with noble savage ideology, wich leaves very little hope for complex, nuanced characters or even a good story. I'ma go for a refund, wish me luck.
Very unique game, both setting-wise as well as gameplay wise. Thumbs up!
Although still in early access, this game is already pretty good. It feels like a neat take on Mount & Blade, while being more story focused. The landscape looks good, and so does the artwork. The cities feel alive and there's quite a lot to do, even outside of the main quest. The devs give regular updates, with the next one planning on adding different weapons and armors to customize your troops with. The game remains mostly bug free, and the features are so far well implemented. Overall I'd say this is a 7.5/10, and for it's price, it's a bargain.
UI is not the best, clicking on own units and enemies is hard because its pretty specific where you need to click in order to select someone. AI is not the smartest, i lost units because they just let the enemy hit them while not doing anything. Voice acting, music, lore etc. are on point. Its just too janky for now. Hopefully it improves over time
